I'm moving to Toolset from Content Views Pro. I've already got a custom post type setup that Content Views Pro uses, and from what I've read in other tickets I can't use this in Toolset.

How hard is it to change a Toolset type name after it's created? If I called it for now Type2, is this relatively easy to rename later on or will this be problematic?

Thanks,

Austin

Hi Austin,

Thank you for contacting us and I'll be happy to assist.

Toolset Types plugin allows you to change/update the name or slug of its already created custom post type.

This is considered a very safe process, however, after this change, you'll have to manually select the post type again, in any connected post Views ( ref: https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/create-and-display-custom-lists-of-content/ ) or post Forms ( ref: https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/forms-for-creating-content/ ).

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need any further assistance around this.

regards,
Waqar

Thanks Waqar, a quick follow on question from this...

I've had my custom post type and taxonomies setup previously with CPT UI. Setting this up now in Toolset it's recognised my posts and taxonomy structure which is actually great... but I'm wondering if this is going to be an issue?

From my Toolset dashboard I can see the Taxonomies are associated with my type and all looks good, could this be problematic or simply mean that I don't have to worry about exporting / importing my posts?

Thanks,

Austin

Hi Austin,

Thanks for writing back.

Your observation is correct and Toolset plugins can recognize and interact with the custom post types and taxonomies, which are added through other plugins or custom code.

For this reason, you don't need to re-create or export/import those posts and/or taxonomy terms, through Toolset.
