Problem: Solution: Only Post Views do support it. There are features planned for future development, but it is not yet in our RoadMap, it requires a complete new setup of the Query. |

parametric search default – date =today()

Problem: I would like to create a View that shows Events, filtered by date range, as a custom search. The Events CPT has custom fields that manage the start and end date of each event. By default, the filter start date should be TODAY(), and the filter end date should be unset. I would like the View to display any Event that occurs during the selected date range, including any Event whose date range overlaps with the selected date range. Solution: Apply the following custom code, and disable the Post Types Order plugin: add_filter( 'wpv_filter_query', 'default_this_month_inclusive', 10, 3 ); function default_this_month_inclusive ( $query, $view_settings, $view_id ) { if( $view_id == 12345 ) { $selected_start = false; $selected_end = false; $first_day_of_month = (new DateTime('first day of this month 0:00'))->format('U'); // determine if user has selected a start or end date, and destroy those meta query items if ( isset($query['meta_query']) ) { foreach($query['meta_query'] as $key => $meta) { if(isset($meta['key']) && $meta['key'] == 'wpcf-event-start-date'){ // get a timestamp that represents 12:00 am on the event start date $selected_start = strtotime(date('m/d/Y', $meta['value']) . ' 0:00:00'); unset($query['meta_query'][$key]); } if(isset($meta['key']) && $meta['key'] == 'wpcf-event-end-date'){ // get a timestamp that represents 11:59:59 on the event end date $selected_end = strtotime(date('m/d/Y', $meta['value']) . '23:59:59'); unset($query['meta_query'][$key]); } } } else { $selected_start = strtotime('0:00:00'); } // If they chose start or end dates use those. // If not, use the first day of the month as start date range and infinite end date // UNLESS they chose the opposite criteria, i.e. don't show events that ended earlier than start date and vice versa $query_start = $selected_start ? $selected_start : ($selected_end ? $selected_end : $first_day_of_month); $query_end = $selected_end ? $selected_end : 9999999999; $args = array( 'relation' => 'AND', array( 'key' => 'wpcf-event-start-date', 'value' => $query_end, 'compare' => '<=', 'type' => 'numeric' ), array( 'key' => 'wpcf-event-end-date', 'value' => $query_start, 'compare' => '>=', 'type' => 'numeric' ) ); // add these arguments to your meta query $query['meta_query'] = isset($query['meta_query']) ? $query['meta_query'] : []; $query['meta_query'][] = $args; } return $query; } Relevant Documentation: |
