Hello,

I built an older site with WP Astra, Elementor, and content templates with Toolset to display dynamic content without integrating WooCommerce at the time of original development.

Assuming that WooCommerce can not be integrated into the existing single-item display pages, can we create a second content template with WooCommerce to use secondarily with the /product/ post type or a second custom post type?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.

The WooCommerce plugin adds a post type 'Products', which can be used with Toolset content templates, same as other post types.

If you'd like to use an existing Toolset content template for the single product pages, you can select this post type in that template's usage settings.

And in case, you'd like to start with a new content template, you can create a new single product template as well.

Note: We also have a free course on using Toolset with WooCommerce:

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need further assistance.

regards,
Waqar

Hello,

Thank you for this information. To confirm we currently have a custom post type and content template configuration (not the default "Products") and we have several hundred single-item pages linked to this configuration and displaying content - with an existing custom search.

My original question was could I create a "second" content template that I can link to the "Products" post types and create a "second" display for "Products" on the site - while continuing to show the existing pages using the original custom post type and content template config.

Based on your first reply, is it possible to "If you'd like to use an existing Toolset content template for the single product pages, you can select this post type in that template's usage settings?"

Yes, this is what we are trying to accomplish.:

1. Can you please share a screenshot showing how to "select this post type in that template's usage settings"?

2. Can we maintain the custom post type for our products - or will we have to reclassify the existing template pages to the "Products" post-type?

Our single-time pages currently use the custom post type "Artwork" and we would like to maintain that for our product pages if possible.

Thanks for writing back.

The content template assignment settings that I was referring to are shown in the attached screenshot example.

But based on your recent reply, I feel you'd like to use your existing posts in post type 'Artwork' to use as WooCommerce products.

If that is correct, it would make more sense to switch the post types of those posts from 'Artwork' to 'Products', instead of maintaining them as two separate post types.

Here is a useful guide on the topic of post type switching:
