I am trying to: Types are missing
I visited this URL:
I expected to see:
Instead, I got:
Should I post a login to Word Press so you can go in there and see what's wrong and fix it?
Thank you for contacting Toolset Support. I am happy to help you with this.
It is hard to tell by the screenshots which Type is missing and where. Do you mind elaborating more on the issue and steps taken to recreate the issue?
Thank you in advance.
Thanks for getting back to me. Let me first say that I've taken over the maintenance of this site from the person who originally created it. That person tells me that (see screen shot #2.png) just above the Images box there was the Toolset list of items to choose from (see screen shot #5.png). As you can see they're not there anymore. Something happened in that they're gone but yet they were there I was told. Its used to (see screen shot #6.png), right side column under the headshot. When I go into the WP Admin and click on Bios from the left side to edit or even add a new person those choices that I said were in 2.png aren't there anymore. I hope this explanation and screen shots are helpful to figure out what's wrong and what can be done to fix it. If you'd like to have access to the WP Admin I can create a login for you. I just don't want to post login credentials in a public forum here.
Hello, Scott. I see the prior thread you had with Beda:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/problem-with-custom-fields-not-available?replies=21
I think it's best for me to login and see what is going on.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will request to duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
Privacy and Security Policy
We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://toolset.com/home/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/
**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
hidden link
Did you get the secure info I sent you?
Thank you for that information. I am looking into the issue and will respond shortly after investigating.
Not a problem on the live/development issue explanation. I will be happy to explain my steps.
Did you do anything prior to sending me your last message? I'm asking because per the attached screen shot the Field Group for Bios wasn't there earlier in the day and with that the fields where I'd type in the info that you saw in the screen shot where you see the info on the right hand side below the headshot would be entered. All that is missing.
How are things going? The client wants to add more bios for new people and they can't add that other info that needs to be there below the head shot on the right hand column per the screen shot I sent.
Hello, Scott. I have not made any changes yet. I am still debugging on my end but I expect to wrap up shortly. Thank you for your patience.
In the meantime, I added custom fields to the Post Type "Bio" as a temporary workaround. For example, is you go to this post: /wp-admin/post.php?post=1124&action=edit and scroll to the bottom, you will see 4 fields:
wpcf-job-title
wpcf-joined
wpcf-staff-email
wpcf-staff-phone
These are the custom fields you can use for now to add or edit new entries until testing is complete on our end.
Hello, Scott. I was able to find the issue but it needs further debugging. The Staff Bios are actually there (see screenshot) but what happens is the page loads and the section is hidden after a couple seconds. I did temporarily disable some non-essential plugins such as WordFence to see if the issue was caused by a plugin.
Additionally, there are no errors in the JavaScript console.
To further debug the problem I would like to replicate your site locally.
For this I will need to temporarily install a plugin called "Duplicator" (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/) on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.
Do I have your permission to move forward with Duplicator?
** IMPORTANT ** Please backup a working copy of site files and database before confirming.
Please use the custom fields as a workaround for the time being.
What does this Duplicator plugin do? Where does it create the duplicate site? Actually there's no reason to create a duplicate. This site is a duplicate hidden link
and it can be worked on as its not the production site.
I will log into the admin now and see what you did so far.
I need to know how you added these back so I can add them to the production site.
