[Resolved] Many-to-Many Relationships between the same post types

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

I am trying to develop a family tree site, so need to be able to create a relationship between two people records to cover marriage and other non-hierarchical relationships.

Solution:

There isn't exact same feature within Toolset, but there is a workaround with a intermediate post type, see our document:
How do I associate one child with several parents of the same type

Hi

I saw on a previous forum post back in 2017 that many-to-many relationships would be supported between the same post types. However, in attempting this it doesn't appear to be the case, just wondering if I am missing something. See comment related to horse on https://toolset.com/2017/09/preview-for-many-to-many-relationships-in-toolset/

I am trying to develop a family tree site, so need to be able to create a relationship between two people records to cover marriage and other non-hierarchical relationships, perhaps like this hidden link

Thanks

Rob

Dear Rob,

There isn't exact same feature within Toolset, but there is a workaround with a intermediate post type, see our document:

Section "Using an intermediary custom type"

Thank you for clarifying this. The provided link doesn't really solve my use case as it the parent is of the same post type, so it looks like I'll need to a develop a custom solution for this.
