Hi, I'm trying to upload a csv file to a types custom post, here's an example of heading and 1 record - which doesn't work:

csv_post_title,csv_post_post,csv_post_excerpt,csv_post_type,wpcf-species_id,wpcf-botanical_name,wpcf-species_family,wpcf-synonyms,wpcf-english_names,wpcf-hebrew_names,wpcf-hebrew-phonetic,wpcf-arabic_name,wpcf-arabic_phonetic,wpcf-life_form,wpcf-habitat,wpcf-local_distribution,wpcf-status,wpcf-scientific_studies,wpcf-cautions,wpcf-notes
"Aaronsonia faktosovskyi",,,"plant","23","Aaronsonia faktosovskyi","Asteraceae",,,"אהרונסונית פקטורובסקי",,,,,,,,,,

When I try to import I get
Skipped 19 posts (most likely due to empty title, body and excerpt).

Imported 0 posts and 0 comments in 0.02 seconds.

Really appreciate any help to get this working

Thanks
David

Hi, received a request from Mohammed (only see it in my email, but not here) to disable all none toolset plugins which I did - apart from the "CSV Importer" plugin.
Also replaced my GeneratePress theme with the Twenty Fifteen theme. The csv importer still does not work.
I've uploaded the problem file to dropbox the link is
hidden link

I'm using Toolset Types version 2.2.22

Thanks for any help

#628474

I've also tried to import the minimum possible:

"csv_post_title","csv_post_post","csv_post_excerpt","csv_post_type"

with the same result - 0 records imported

Like to know if CSV Importer is still recommended by Toolset or if people are saying for whatever reason it no longer works?

If so, does that mean I now have to pay $99 for Ultimate CSV Importer to import csv files using toolset.

Are there any free solutions that you can recommend?

Hello,

Minesh isn't available currently, you will get the answers soon when he is back, and I just checked it with our developers, we will make it work out-of-the-box with existing CSV importer plugins, including the free version:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-ultimate-csv-importer/

#629663

Thanks Luo,
That's great news, you say "we will make it work out-of-the-box" does that mean in the future or will wp-ultimate-csv-importer free version work now?

Thanks for your help
David

To import from CSV file to Types Custom fields "Ultimate csv Importer" plugin requires the Pro (paid) version. How do I import to Types Custom Fields with the free version?

Thanks
David

Well - we already mentioned this with our Docs:
=> https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-import-content-into-wordpress-using-csv/

To import Types fields - you need pro version and that is why pro version needed.

#630617

Hi Minesh,
I understand that, but in the past I've successfully used the free CSV Importer. I'm not sure why it's not working now, so I don't want to pay $100 without knowing the reason CSV Importer is not working, which is why I ask if there's now a known problem with CSV Importer or if the problem is something I'm doing wrong.
You recommend both plugins, so I assume it's something I'm doing wrong, therefore there's no point in me paying $100 for the Pro version of Ultimate CSV Importer.

Thanks
David

Hi Minesh, After much googling, I'm making progress with the CSV importer plugin - I found this article:
hidden link

I'm including it here in the hope it'll help others:

Many people (including me) are searching for, and asking how you can use custom fields in the WordPress CSV importer. The plugin page says:

Any column that doesn’t start with csv_ is considered to be a custom field name. The data in that column will be imported as the custom fields value.

So I made an excel spreadsheet with 2 columns:

csv_post_title
(example) my_custom_field
And by importing this CSV file WordPress gave me the following error:

Skipped 3 posts (most likely due to empty title, body and excerpt). Imported 0 posts and 0 comments in 0.23 seconds

But after trying different combinations of column names as: csv_post_post and csv_post_type nothing worked and every time WordPress gave me the error. So maybe it was my CSV file that isn’t saved the right way. Then I went to Google Drive where you can make spreadsheets. I made a Spreadsheet in Google (the same as my old one, with the 2 columns), Saved it as CSV file, imported it with WordPress CSV importer and it Worked!

So my solution for importing Custom fields in WordPress CSV importer is to use CSV files from Google Spreadsheet.

My problem now (see screenshots) is I have several custom fields, which have a field type: select these fields appear in the plant-list.jpg screenshot, but when I open the post, I only see "not set". Can you tell me the format of the select field in a csv file - do the items in the select list need to be comma separated?, does each item need to appear on a separate line in the cell?

Thanks for any help
David

Do you mean that you want to import dropdown selectbox options? If yes:

As Types custom select fields options setting is stored in your database table wp_options, option_name is wpcf-fields. You need to add those dropdown options.

To import the select field options - following link may help you:

Hi Minesh,
I have a Post Field called English Names, I've attached a screenshot.

The slug name is english_names
Field Type: Select

Column header name in csv file: wpcf-english_names
Cell content: Eng. Name1, Eng. Name2

When I upload the csv file (using CSV Importer plugin) , in the list of plant posts under the

    English Names

column I see: Eng.Name1, Eng.Name2
but when I click edit post I see English Names --- not set --- (see above screenshot)

What I expected to see instead of --- not set --- was the list:
Eng.Name1
Eng.Name2

What am I doing wrong? Why do I see "--- not set ---" instead of the list of english names?

Thanks for your help
David
