[Resolved] Content template missing from the admin area

This support ticket is created 4 years, 3 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

I am referencing a closed ticket from last month: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/content-template-for-cpt-is-not-showing-in-the-admin-area/

We have just noticed the same issue but with another Custom Post Type, instead of Podcasts, it is now the Persons CPT.
When we edit a "Person", we notice that the "Content Template - Person Single" was missing from the dropdown

When we looked at Toolset > Content Templates, that CT is still missing. We can only access it via Toolset > Dashboard > Persons > Content Template – Person Single

Then under Usage > Change Usage, we saw 3 items not linked

Thank you for waiting and I apologize for the delay in getting back on this.

Just wanted to update that I've been running some tests with WPML and Toolset on my test website, but couldn't reproduce this issue of the missing content templates.

I already have the latest duplicator package from your website and I'll be able to share more detailed findings, in few hours.

Hi,

I can confirm that the issue with the "Content Template - Person Single" persists, even after WordPress, Toolset, and WPML plugins are updated to the latest versions and all other plugins are deleted.
( I even tested with the default Twenty Twenty theme )

Unlike the previous report, this missing content template doesn't appear after WPML plugins are deactivated and reactivated again.

I've shared all these findings with the development team for further investigation and will keep you updated through this ticket.

Hi Waqar,

It has been 3 months without an update. Our client just updated another "Person" CPT and again the Content Template got disconnected from the Post.
We are able to Bind 3 Persons to the Content Template, but we would be happier if this issue finally got fixed.

Thank you for waiting and I apologize I couldn't follow up on this sooner.

During the investigation, it turned out that the content template for the "person" post was somehow recorded as being in English, while the others are in the default language Dutch.
( Is it possible that WPML was momentarily disabled or not in use when that template was made? )

The solution involves updating the database using phpMyAdmin or a similar tool so that the content template is recognized by WPML as being in Dutch.

The table in question is "_icl_translations" and you can search for element_id = 289 (ID of the template for the person post), and then update the language_code from ‘en’ to ‘nl’.

I have edited the database and changed some bio on a Persons post. For now, it seems the Content Template is still binded to the post.

Please allow me to keep this ticket open a bit longer so we are able to thoroughly test if the above turns out to be the solution.

Thanks for the update and this ticket will stay open for a couple of weeks.

In case you have to share any follow-up information after the ticket has closed, you can start a new ticket and just include this ticket's link and we'll know that the two tickets are related.
