Hello there,
I created a content template for the custom event post type and I want to edit the template with WPBakery, since we're using that globally and it's integrated with our theme.
When editing the content template, I can switch to the WPBakery Editor, but the Button to save the template is always greyed out.
When I switch back to the classic Toolset Editor I can save, but my Edits within WPBakery won't be saved.
Any ideas why this happens?
Let me know if you need anything to help us with this issue!
Thank you and best regards,
Levi
Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.
Here is the Doc that shows information how you can use the WP Bakery Page Builder with Toolset:
=> https://toolset.com/course-lesson/using-toolset-with-wpbakery-page-builder/
I checked the debug information you shared but there is not much info available.
Have you tried to isolate the issue with minimum setup?
Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?
- Do you see any difference?
Hello Minesh,
thanks for checking!
I deactivated all of the plugins, except the Toolset Plugins and WPBakery Page Builder.
We also tried it with the standard theme from WordPress.
It seems like this issue still persists.
It's a multisite environment, but it also occurs on the main site, so that can't be the problem.
I'm using the following Toolset Plugins:
Toolset Blocks
Toolset Forms
Toolset Framework Installer
Toolset Maps
Toolset Types
WPBakery Version is 6.8.0, which comes without Theme.
Any ideas?
Thank you and best regards!
Let me know, if you need admin access or anything else.
Thank you in advance!
The latest version for WP Bakery Page Builder is v7.8.
We always recommend to use the latest stable release of (WordPress + Plugin(s) + theme) version.
However - when I checked with latest WP Bakery Page Builder v7.8 - I found that the content template is not get saved.
Please allow me to escalate this issue in front of our next level support. I'll get in touch with you as soon as I've any update on this issue.
Thank you for taking care of it and simulating the issue.
I hope the team will be able to resolve this soon!
Best regards and have a good weekend

Hi Levi
Minesh is on vacation, so let me take over here.
I see my colleague has begun working on the internal ticket opened by Minesh but hasn't reported any conclusions yet.
I've asked for an update. I'll pass any news on to you when I have it.
Nigel
Hello Nigel,
thank you, no worries and thank you for your help!
I hope this compatibility issue gets resolved soon.
Best regards,
Levi

Sorry Levi, the feedback is that the developers cannot reproduce the issue.
So I tried myself, I set up a clean test site locally with the latest versions of WordPress, Types, Blocks, and WP Bakery.
I need to go to Toolset > Settings and expose the legacy editor, so that I can select WP Bakery as the editor for Content Templates.
Then I can go to Toolset > Content Templates and create a new template, and design it with WP Bakery, and save it, and save subsequent edits, all without issue.
I'm not sure what Minesh reproduced, as he is not here currently.
I could create a sandbox site to demonstrate to you that it is working fine, but that won't help with your site and the problem you are experiencing.
So, can I request access to your site so that I can take a copy to test locally? (A staging site would be preferable, so that I can do some basic testing there first.)
Let me mark your next reply as private so that I can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for me to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.
Another thing to note, that might be important:
On our main page palliativ-portal.com, we currently use two content templates implemented with the legacy editor.
When I switch to WPBakery Editor, I'm not able to save those templates.
I created a test content template, where I was able to click on the Save button once, but it actually didn't save my progress within the WPBakery editor. After that the problem reappeared and the Save button was greyed out again.

I logged in to the network, but I couldn't visit the akademie subsite. In my screenshot you'll note that it is missing from the list of sites in the toolbar, while if I click the dashboard link that appears when hovering over the site from the list of sites, it gives an error.
So, I tried on the main site. I created my own test template with WP Bakery (Nigel Test). I had no problem adding modules and saving. Then editing the saved template and making changes and saving again.
I don't see the problem you describe.
I'm not sure what to suggest. Can you clear your caches, or try logging in in a different browser and editing?
And there are no errors? In the browser console, or the debug log?
Hey Nigel,
the akademie subdomain doesn't have an SSL certificate yet, you'd have to make sure to write http:// instead of https:// in front of the URL. Maybe that's the reason.
I usually clear my cache every day before work. Minesh looked at the debug log and didn't find any info.
I usually use Firefox and just tried it with chrome and voilà: It worked.
I never thought it could be a browser related issue.
If Minesh is back, I'd be interested to know if he also used Firefox.
Really weird, but I guess we'll use chrome for now.
Thank you for checking!

I just quickly tried editing a template on your site with Firefox, and it also worked okay.
I you experienced problems using your habitual browser (FF) but not with a different browser (Chrome), that suggests there may be a caching issue with your regular browser. You could try a hard refresh and clearing the cache to see if it will also work in FF.
I cleared the cache and did a hard refresh in FF.
Then I logged back in and was able to see the WPBakery rows and columns and was able to save once.
After that, the rows and columns disappeared in the visual editor, but they were still visible as code when I switched to the legacy editor.
I've tried to clear my cache and do a hard refresh again to bring back the content from the visual editor, but that didn't do the trick.
It's weird and I don't see a clear pattern here.
I think I managed to make it work again, but it's very inconsistent and I have to clear my cache and do a hard refresh everytime I click on the content template to edit again.
Do you think there is a setting within FF I could change to fix this?
Thank you!
