I have an existing site made with the Salient theme and the bundled WPBakery page builder. I made some custom post types with custom fields and was hoping to create forms with Toolset to allow editing and creation of the posts using existing WPBakery layouts, which I understood from your website is possible. You say "You will be taken to the Content Template editor. Click on the WPBakery Page Builder button to design the template" but I do not see that button (see attached screengrab). I'm wondering if you know the reason? Is the WPBakery bundled with Salient not compatible with Toolset?
Thanks
This is becoming a little clearer. I can get the field values into the existing layout by inserting the shortcodes, which seems to work. With the other part of it, I've created an edit content form and a content template, but when I try to insert a forms edit-post link, it tells me I have no layouts. Is it possible to insert it into the existing WPBakery layout for that post type?
Okay, I think what I need to do is create a new content template and import the existing WPBakery layout into it, yes?
By the way, the Edit button doesn't seem to work.
I think what was confusing me was layouts (referred to as Templates on the dashboard) and Content Templates. Could you clarify the difference? Are layouts for a whole page?
Hi,
There are lots of questions in this thread, I am trying to answer them one by one:
Q1) Click on the WPBakery Page Builder button to design the template" but I do not see that button (see attached screengrab). I'm wondering if you know the reason?
The Toolset Layouts plugin and WPBakery plugin are both visual page builder, when Layouts plugin is activated, "WPBakery Page Builder button" will be disabled, see our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/using-toolset-with-wpbakery-page-builder/
Toolset also features its own builder plugin called Layouts. However, when using Toolset with WPBakery Page Builder, we recommend not activating Layouts and using WPBakery Page Builder instead.
Q2) it tells me I have no layouts. Is it possible to insert it into the existing WPBakery layout for that post type?
Same as above, you can deactivate Layouts plugin, and follow our document to setup the edit form link:
https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/forms-for-editing/#
Q3) I think what I need to do is create a new content template and import the existing WPBakery layout into it, yes?
No, you can design the content template with WPBakery button, see our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/using-toolset-with-wpbakery-page-builder/
Q4) Could you clarify the difference? Are layouts for a whole page?
See the answer of Q1)
My issue is resolved now. Thank you!
