Output Showing View Block.png
Loop Showing View Block - No Orange Box.png

I am trying to:

Use the Views builder in Gutenberg, but it's not working.

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:

This one is tough. There's nothing to see because there's no output. There is an attempted view with the broken block builder on this page, but there's no output.

I expected to see:

The View block builder as shown in all the video tutorials.

Instead, I got:

A broken builder, I guess?

When I add "View" from the Toolset blocks, it gives me the little orange bordered box for a moment and then glitches out to have nothing. I keep trying (which now means I have TONS of dead views -- how do I get rid of these, btw??) and sometimes it will still load the "Add Blocks" grey background part of the View builder, but most often it shows nothing. It won't show any output at all, either in the Content Template, on a page, or on the front end of the site where things are supposed to be displayed.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.

Even if the orange bordered box doesn't show, have you tried adding any block inside the "View Loop" block, and does it show on the frontend?

To troubleshoot this, I'll suggest the following steps:

1. Please make sure that WordPress, active theme, and plugins are all updated to the latest versions.

2. It would be interesting to test this with all non-Toolset plugins disabled and a default theme like Twenty Twenty.

If it's fixed, you can start adding the disabled items, one-by-one, to narrow down to a possible conflicting one.

3. In case the issue still persists, you can share temporary admin login details so that I can log in and troubleshoot the block editor, from the backend.

Note: Your next reply will be private and please make a complete backup copy, before sharing the access details.

To delete a view, you can follow these steps:

1. Please go to WP Admin -> Toolset -> Settings -> General and for the "Editing experience" select "Show both the legacy and Blocks interface and let me choose which to use for each item I build".

2. After that, when you'll refresh the page, the "Views" menu option will become available in the menu WP Admin -> Toolset.

From this management screen, you'll be able to delete any unused views.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need any further assistance around this.

regards,
Waqar

Any update on this? I see there's been no login. Is there anything I can do to help this along? The site is scheduled to launch on Saturday. I can move everything over to standard posts so I can use the Divi Builder, but I really don't want to do that. Many thanks for your help.

Thank you for waiting and I apologize for the delay in getting back on this.

I can see the issue with the blocks based view creation on your website and I even tested this by creating a new view on a page "Test page from TS support".

Since this is not reproducible on a clean test website, it seems there is something specific to your website involved. It could be that the MemberPress or some other third-party plugin is restricting access to post's data through REST API which is needed for the blocks based views to work.

Would it be possible for you to share a clone/snapshot of your website so that it can be investigated on a different server, without affecting the actual website?

For now, a workaround can be to use the classic views editor to create the views from WP Admin -> Toolset -> Views and then insert them in your desired place.

Please let me know how it goes and I've set your next reply as private again

Hi! I have great news. I was concerned when you said you couldn't reproduce this on a new install, so I cloned it to my own server and the issue isn't present.

I followed up with GoDaddy and it's all related to the Managed WordPress hosting. It was causing this and a huge number of other issues.

My client is going to move to another host in a cpanel environment (not managed hosting) and that's going to solve everything. I really appreciate your help with this! Thanks for your time and patience!
