I have a website that has a custom post type (Resources) that are mostly assigned to admins, but if the owner of said resource (Non-Profit, Church, Service Provider) wants to claim that resource for them to edit and maintain, they can.

This is usually done via quick-editing the resource and assigning their new user account as the author of their resource.

I just updated to WordPress 5.9 and all Author Dropdown fields (Quick-edit, or when editing the individual post) are now broken (See Attached Screen Shots)

I checked and even after updating, I can still edit Page and Post authors (default WordPress Content Types) but not any CPT built with Types.

The website I gave you access to is a Staging site I setup specifically to figure this issue out. So you can do what you need to without messing up the main website.

Hello,

I have tried it in my localhost with a fresh WP installation + the latest version of Toolset plugins, it works fine, see my screenshot author-selector.JPG

So the problem you mentioned above is abnormal, please check these:
In case it is a compatibility problem, please deactivate all other plugins(including the Must-Use and Drop-ins plugins), and switch to WordPress default theme 2021, and test again

#2280035

Sorry for not responding quicker!

I will try these things and report back.

#2280045

Ok, I have deactivated all plugins on the test site except the Toolset Plugins, and changed the theme to Twenty-Twentyone and I am still seeing the error present.

To test further, I deactivated every plugin except the Types plugin, and the Author select field was fixed. As I activated each of the other Toolset Plugins I was using I found out that it broke again when I activated Toolset Access. I even Activated Every other plugin (22 total) except Toolset Access and the Author Dropdown works as expected. As soon as Access gets activated though, it breaks.

Does that help get us in the ballpark?

Hi,

Thank you for sharing these results.

Luo is on vacation this week, so I'll be following up on this ticket.

During my initial test on my website, I couldn't reproduce behavior either. I've downloaded the clone of your staging website, for further investigation on a test server and will keep you updated with the findings.

Thank you for your patience.

regards,
Waqar

Thank you for waiting.

During troubleshooting, I was able to reproduce this issue with the author selection dropdown on my test website too. This author selection dropdown is affected for any post type that is set to be "Managed by Access" in the Access Control settings.

This has been reported to the concerned team and I'll keep you updated with the progress, through this ticket.

Ok awesome, I am glad we were able to pinpoint this!!!

#2287273

I was just wondering if yall had a rough ETA on the fix?

#2287493

I'm afraid, I don't have an ETA at the moment.

But due to the critical nature of this issue, it is being worked on as a major priority.

So it is safe to say that a fix won't take long and I'll update you once it is out.

#2369359

I would like to inform you that the latest Toolset Access plugin (version 2.8.14) is released and contains the fix for this issue.

Please update all the Toolset plugins to the latest versions and let us know in case the issue persists.
