I am trying to:
Create a WordPress Archive template (tried both from the frontend Admin menu, and the backend Toolset menu)

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link

I expected to see:
A WordPress Archive template where I can build my template and save it.

Instead, I got:
1) Initially, an error message that says "You attempted to edit a WordPress Archive that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?"
2) But the Archive is there, but when I go into it, I have a Title and Content field, nothing more, no Publish metabox.

Other info :
- This is new DEV site, with close to Zero content. I can't use Blocks, this site is a Proof of concept, we will recreate whatever solution we find to the real site where we will use Views shortcodes (the Theme is X, which is non-Gutenberg, non-Bootstrap).

Running a full DEBUG tail in UNIX shows no errors when doing these operations.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.

This message may appear in some of the settings for the default editor are not set.

To troubleshoot this, I'll suggest the following steps.

1. Please make sure that WordPress, active theme and plugins are all updated to the latest versions.

2. Next, please go to WP Admin -> Toolset -> Settings -> General and select "Classic Editor" for the setting "Editor to use for WordPress Archives".
( screenshot: hidden link )

After that, you should be able to create or edit the WordPress Archives correctly and then adjust the default editor settings, as needed.

I hope this helps and please let me know how it goes.

regards,
Waqar

Yes! But wow... to have to enable both Blocks and Legacy, so I can force-choose Legacy 🙁

My feedback to the DEV team : using VIEWS (and not Blocks) is still very important, Gutenberg is not production-ready for most clients coming from existing sites with custom code. VIEWS will need love for years to come..., and I've been in the WP business since 2005. Please don't forget us 🙂
