I'm no longer getting the block editor or the classic editor I'm used to seeing for your plugin when setting up a new archive. I'm now getting what looks like a basic WordPress page editor with none of Toolset's options present.

Hello,

Please check these:
Dashboard-> Toolset-> Post Types
Find and edit the problem custom post types, in section "Name and description", option "Editor" choose "Block" or "Per post", then create a new custom post, and test again

I changed it to Editor choice per post but that didn't do anything. It's going to this WordPress editor screen even when I try to create an archive for a content type I haven't done before. I'm no longer getting any Toolset options. This is incredibly weird. See the attached image for what I now see when I click to edit an archive page.

The problem you mentioned above is abnormal, it seems to be a compatibility issue, please check these:
1) please deactivate all other plugins, and switch to WordPress default theme 2021, and test again
2) If the problem is fixed, activate other plugins/theme one by one, try to locate the problem plugin

The problem is happening when I enable the Classic Editor plugin. It was working fine with that installed and enabled before though. I have no idea why it changed.

#2296079

I also have Classic Editor enabled on another site I'm developing and the problem is not happening there. This is frustrating. I have no idea why this would be doing this. I much prefer the Classic Editor approach over the Block Editor so I hope I don't have to keep this disabled on this site.

Please try these:
Dashboard-> Settings->Writing
option "Allow users to switch editors", choose "Yes"

And test again

Just did that and it's still doing the same thing. Baffling.

Just so you know, it was working fine before. I'm juggling developing 3 different sites right now, all using Toolset. I worked for a few days on one of the other sites before I came back to this one. When I left working on this site, it was still working. The first thing I did when I came back to this site was to try to edit the Archive page and that's when I encountered this issue. In other words, I don't think I did anything to cause this. I could be wrong though. I could be forgetting something I might have done to indirectly cause this. When I came back to work on this site and saw it doing this, I was immediately confused and disappointed as to why it was doing this. I was going to take something learned on working on one of the other sites to this site and expected it to take me 5 minutes to set up the new archive exactly as needed here. That was until I couldn't get to the Toolset functions. Now I have no idea what to do.

Also note that the same thing happens even when I set Classic Editor to use Blocks editor by default and to allow users to switch.

It works fine in my localhost + the latest version of Toolset plugins + Classic Editor plugin, since it is a compatibility issue, please provide a copy of your website in below private message box, you can put the package files in your own google drive disk, share the link only, also point out the problem page URL and view URL, I need to test and debug it in my localhost, thanks

I'm installing the Duplicator plugin, but I'm 99% sure that the site will trigger a Duplicator failure. This is a large site on a shared host. I don't have good luck with Duplicator with sites like this.

Here's what Duplicator says:

Host Build Interrupt
This server cannot complete the build due to host setup constraints.
To get past this hosts limitation consider the options below by clicking each section.

Option 1:Try DupArchive
Option 2:File Filters
Option 3:Two-Part Install
Option 4:Configure Server

What do you recommend here?

#2298315

It might be a server issue of your website, you can try to reproduce the same problem in a fresh WP installation, then provide the new test site copy in below private message box.

#2299379

The issue with Duplicator is the site is too large for Duplicator to work on a shared host. This is common with the large sites I build. Creating a new test site with the same content will produce the same result unless the hosting situation is different, but even then I think the size of the site would still trigger a Duplicator failure.

Getting Duplicator Pro might solve it, but I'll have to run that cost by my client that I'm building the site for to see if she's OK with it.

I can also try the two-part install. But I wanted to see if you had a preference first. Another possibility is to filter the package to exclude all Media content to reduce the size. Nothing in Media is going to be what is causing the issue with Toolset template editing, so I'll try that first. More info in next reply.

#2299385

New info. This is really weird. When I filtered out all content within wp-content/uploads/2022, it showed that was only filtering out 3 MB from over 600 MB to the site. I didn't expect it to work as that was far less Media content than I expected to see it filter. Well, I went ahead and tried to build the package anyway, and it worked this time. So I have both the installer and archive files for you. Go ahead and set up another reply to be private and I'll send those. I don't have Google Drive, so let me know how best to get this to you. I have Dropbox, but haven't used it to send files to someone else before. I've only used it to get files from someone else. Another option would be WeTransfer.com but I'd need an e-mail address from you to send that way. Are there any other secure options you can recommend for this?

You can put the duplicator package in your own Dropbox, and share the link in below private message box, as I mentioned above, since the problem only exists in your website, I need to test and debug it in a live website
