Tell us what you are trying to do?
Hello, our search and archive features appears to have quit working.

SEARCH
When you go to our homepage at hidden link, then click search, then search for a term like "community college," we see pagination, but no search results. This was working correctly until the last update.

ARCHIVE
When you visit:
hidden link

Our entire archive is missing. This was also working until the last update.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
No

Is there a similar example that we can see?
Our old site was working

What is the link to your site?

Here is a screenshot of our archives - the strange thing is that *both* the filters, and also the results, are missing - very concerning. Hoping to quickly get this back.

The *only* update we have made today was updating the Toolset plugins to the most recent versions.

Hi Max

I can see that the archives are missing on the front end.

I think it would be helpful if I could check your site for myself, and we may need a copy of it.

I will mark your next reply as private so that I can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for me to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.

Thank you, I have created a backup - the names are:

Sorry, it wasn't, I may have missed the setting.

I've edited your reply and removed the details. I'll check your site in a moment.

I did some testing on your site.

I can confirm that the issue happens with the upgrade to Views 3.0. I downgraded to Views 2.9.4 and could see the archives working.

But it appears to be an issue particular to your theme. I switched to twentytwenty when using Views 3.0 and the archives displayed correctly.

So it is some specific compatibility issue.

I've escalated this so that it can be investigated further, and I'll get back to you when I have more news.

Thanks! I'll look forward to hearing back.

It has been presented to the developers, but I can't say how long it will take to fix.

You will need to stay on Views 2.9.4 in the meantime (while using the H-code theme, if you have other projects that use a different theme you should be okay to use the latest version of Views).

Understood - hopefully this is something that can be resolved rather quickly. Is there any way we can receive updates on the progress?

Thanks!
Max

I'll leave this ticket as escalated. I'm subscribed to the internal ticket so I can see when the developers make progress, and I'll let you know when there is news.

Hi Nigel -

I am hoping to get a final answer on this issue. Currently we're unable to upgrade any toolset plugins, as the update completely turns off all of our archives and records.

Obviously this is a serious issue, and I know we're using a popular theme, so I'm really hoping to hear of a solution this week. We are unable to launch in its current state and it has caused us some business problems.

Max

Hi Max

I discussed with the developers and they don't have a solution yet, they have a deeper problem that has arisen because of changes made to custom archives to work with the block editor and it is going to take some time to come up with a solution.

However, for your theme they have provided a temporary patch that you can use with your theme so that you can continue with this project. It is a fix specifically for you, not a general solution, and you would need to re-apply it after any Views updates if that update doesn't contain a permanent solution.

Download the following zip file: hidden link

Replace the existing file wp-content/plugins/wp-views/embedded/inc/wpv-archive-loop.php with the patched file.

I'll leave this as escalated so that I can update you when there is news about a permanent fix.
