Hi guys,

could it be you changed something in the way unordered lists are being displayed in Blocks?

In several custom post types of the website I am working on I have, as a custom field, attachment files for download.Since the last update of Blocks the list items have a paragraph before, between and after the list items (see attached file Post-view.png").

However, the list is being displayed correctly in the archives (see attached file "Archive-view.png"). Any clues?

Thanks in advance!

Jannis

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

We have known issue with extra p tags added but its when you design the content template using the beaver builder:
=> https://toolset.com/errata/extraneous-p-and-br-tags-added-to-content-template-output-when-designed-with-beaver-builder/

but I see you are not using the Beaver Builder.

Can you please share problem URL so I can review how exactly you setup your structure as well as admin access details.

*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.

Somehow I managed to reset the content template during my testing and as content template was reset I lost the shortcode you added to it.

Can you please add your required shortcode so that I should continue my testing.

Hello Minesh,

have you just killed the archive view as well?

no, I was just working with the content template. If you can quickly setup the archive I'm happy to look at further.

Hey Minesh,

never mind the archive. I just remembered I had never created a special archive for this custom type. And if you break something, I can still retrieve the site back from the backup, so don't worry. Here is the shortcode for the attachments.

  • " after_string="
  • "][tssupp_repeating_file_names]

I've just added the shortcode you shared to the content template:

I do not see any additional paragraphs now.

Thank you! Maybe I just need to re-save all the content templates that have attachments, but for the time being, it looks like this is done.

It's obviously the Guttenberg editor update that is causing the problem. It adds paragraphs before, between and after the list items.

My problem is that I can't edit the code in the conditional blocks because Blocks doesn't offer an HTML view. The option is available only "Fields and Text" blocks.

Maybe something to take care of in the next Blocks update – unless there is another possibility I'm not aware of.

Do you mean that the issue is coming from Toolset - when using Toolset Block to build your content template?

#1997267

I think it's the way Guttenberg is interacting with Toolset Blocks. Or the way Guttenberg (after the last update) interprets the lists that are defined by the Toolset shortcode.

But I think actually the fault was mine. Instead of putting the shortcode for the attachments inside a Toolset "Fields and Text" block, I put it inside a Guttenberg text/paragraph block. So when the Guttenberg update came, it put paragraphs all over it. So I need to change the other templates as well, but that's a minor nuisance compared to looking for a bug.

So today's lesson is: Never put a Guttenberg block inside a Toolset Conditional block unless you're looking for trouble.

Thanks again, Minesh!
