I have created a term archive view that ive applied to three similar taxonomies. What id like to do is add above the loop a custom field that ive added to each taxonomy that defines that term.

this is for an online database of medicinal plants and their properties so as an example i might have a term "antiseptic" and id like my template to display the custom field that defines and talks about "antiseptic" and then shows all the plants associated with that term. The second part is easy enought- Im just struggling with how to add in the custom taxonomy field at the top. Can you guide me ?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

Does the correct title display at the top ?

The field that holds the description of the taxonomy term is this a custom field or is it one of the native fields that are on the taxonomy? Could I see a screenshot .

Thanks,
Shane

Sure Shane Thanks

The field is a custom field ive added and i'd like the content to appear on a term page such as this

Where plant-action is the taxonomy and nerve-sedative is the term- There are three taxonomies that will share the same content-template/view structure

Hi Steve,

What I recommend that you do is to click the field and views button on your custom archive and search for the Term Description field.

This should give you the shortcode that is needed to get the correct information to display.

Thanks,
Shane

Shane thanks I had assumed that was the case and looked for that but didnt see it. Should I be able to insert the term title similarly- Again not seeing the button to insert that shortcode.

Heres where im at - nerve-sedative is the term name

Hi Steve,

I see you're displaying the description correctly. Plus I added the code for the title.

It should all be fine now.

Thanks,
Shane
