I made a custom role for translators but I can't get the media library to show in the admin menu. The featured image box is also missing in the pages.

I learned from this thread that the media permissions are linked to standard posts: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/access-and-media-library/ so I made sure that the custom role had post permissions enabled.
The media library is still not showing however.

I'm not sure which permissions I'm missing as I feel like I checked everything.

Hello,

Please try this:
Dashboard-> Toolset-> Access-> Custom Roles
Find and edit user role "translator", click link "Change permissions", enable option "upload_files" and test again.

Hi again,
So 'upload_files' was checked but the media library was still not showing.
Turns out the problem was solved by clearing cookies & signing back in 🙂
