Hello. I want to integrate layouts with my custom theme but your page has been pending a rewrite for a while now and i am sick of waiting. I originially bought toolset to easely be able to edit my header, footer and content so i strongly disagree with the decision described on that page. But it does say in the bottom "Advanced users will still be able to integrate themes with Layouts so that they can be used to design the whole page, and we will update this page to detail how you would do that.".
So i have been waiting.
So when is this page ready? Can you send me the documentation now on how to integrate layouts with my theme?

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting us and I'll be happy to assist.

As mentioned on the guide you referred to ( https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/layouts-theme-integration/ ), based on the feedback and suggestions we've received from our users, we recommend limiting the role of the Layout plugin as the content builder (i.e. use it to control the page's content area) and not the theme builder (i.e. use it to control the entire structure of the page).

I'm afraid, I don't have an update to share at the moment, if or when there is going to be a change in this recommendation. But, if you prefer, you can still use the "Layouts Framework API" as needed, to structure your custom theme.

Following are some useful resources on the topic:

https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-build-toolset-based-themes/
https://toolset.com/documentation/programmer-reference/layouts-framework-api/

https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-custom-cells-unique-functionality/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/using-custom-rows-add-custom-theme-functionality/

I hope this helps.

regards,
Waqar
