Hi, I have post types, and for some reason, they don't have the can_export enabled. My question is short and simple: If I enable it and save the post_type, is there any way that it can brick data?
I need to export lots of data in several post types, they all have this ticker unchecked for some reason. I don't know what this option does in DB, so asking before I brick all my data 🙂
Thanks, - Larry
Hi Larry,
Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.
I can confirm that changing the 'can_export' option in a post type's settings, is a very safe process and shouldn't affect the relevant data stored in the database.
Note: As an extra precautionary measure, you can choose to make a backup of the website before making changes like these. But is not mandatory.

Waqar
Hi Waqar, thanks for the reply. I actually already made a backup and tested this on a smallest post type. It worked great, and I got the data transferred to another / new site with WP import/export tool.
Follow up question: I have one or two post types where I also have Relationships. Now, I doubt that with WP export / import tool these would follow to the new site, or would they?. Is there a tool you know could actually import/export post types with Relationships?
I have done post types and relationships on the new site already, but still need to transfer the data.
Thanks, - Larry
Thanks for the update and glad that the data transfer worked.
I've created a separate ticket for your question about the relationship data import/export and will follow-up on that shortly.

You're welcome to mark this ticket as resolved and start a new one, for each new question or concern.
Thanks Waqar, will continue there. - Larry
