Tell us what you are trying to do?
I have about 25 different occupations / taxonomies, such as a plumber, home inspector, real estate agent, etc. How do show that a selection in the form? Ultimately the submitted form needs to be applied to the proper category / post.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
No
Is there a similar example that we can see?
No
What is the link to your site?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.

I checked the link that you've shared, but couldn't see the form on it, as it may not be available for guest visitors.

As shown in the attached screenshot, you can select the field for the available taxonomies from the right sidebar, on the form edit screen.

Once the field for the required taxonomy is included in the form fields, its terms will show as options on the front-end, for selection.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need any further assistance around this.

regards,
Waqar

Taxonomy.JPG

Thank you for your help Waqar, I found what you showed me, and added some taxonomies.

But I do not understand why the taxonomies are displayed as they are? (see attachment) I was hoping that when someone submits the form they would be able to select their profession from a list of taxonomies / occupation. The taxonomies are at the bottom.

I am also perplexed as to when I log out of my site, the form disappears. Note the URL in the image.

Thank you

Thanks for writing back.

To troubleshoot around both these points, I'll need to see how this form is set up in the admin area.

Can you please share temporary admin login details, in reply to this message?

Note: Your next reply will be private and it is recommended to make a complete backup copy, before sharing the access details.

#2189457

Thank you for sharing the admin access.

1. If you'll check the custom taxonomies "Handymen", "Doors", and "Carpenters" you'll see that currently there are no terms added in them:
{yourwebsite.com}/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=handyman&post_type=pro
{yourwebsite.com}/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=door&post_type=pro
{yourwebsite.com}/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=carpenter&post_type=pro

Please add some terms in these taxonomies and they'll start showing as a list of checkboxes, in the form.

2. To make the "Form for Pros" form available for guests (non-logged-in users), please go to WP Admin -> Toolset -> Access Control -> Toolset Forms -> Post Forms Front-end Access Group and select the "Guest" role's checkbox, under the "Create Custom Post with the Form "Form for Pros"" column.

Hello Waqar I was able to make the form for Pros visible / available: hidden link

I don't know what choice to select in "Where to use this field group" to create the check box for the taxonomy on the form. Sample handymen shown. Is it as simple as choosing handyman?

And shouldn't there be a post category showing at the left side for the taxonomies as well?

Thank you for your help.

- The screen that you referring to is not the right screen, to add taxonomy terms for Handymen, Doors and Carpenters.

To add terms for these taxonomies, please go to:

- WP Admin -> Pros -> Handymen

- WP Admin -> Pros -> Doors

- WP Admin -> Pros -> Carpenters

The added terms will show in the form as options.

- I'm afraid, I couldn't understand the question. Can you please share more details along with a screenshot to make this more clear?

Hello Waqar,

I am lost. I really do not know what to do with the screenshots you shared with me. But I will save that for later.

1st step, how do I get a list of taxonomies to show as a selection or checkbox in this form: hidden link

Thanks,
Chuck

This screen-capture video shows, how I added some examples of "Carpenter" taxonomy terms, to make this more clear:

And if you'll check your form, these example "Carpenter" taxonomy terms are showing as options, now.

In the same way, you can add more "Carpenter", "Doors", and "Handymen" taxonomy terms.

Hello Waqar,

I have been away, that is why I have not replied. Once again thank you for your help. I now understand how to ad taxonomies to the form. hidden link

Onto my next problem. When I fill out the form to test it, I checked the door and windows taxonomy in the form. And the form went to the major category Pros (see screenshot). How to I get a post created automatically (from submitting the form) in the proper taxonomy?

#2199809

Thanks for the update.

I feel there is some confusion around how custom post types and custom taxonomies work.

The custom post types, ( for example, "Pros" ) are used to group similar types of posts, together.

The custom taxonomies, ( for example, "Carpenters", "Doors", "Handymen" etc ) are used to further categorize/group the similar posts within a post type.

This means that any posts that you'll add under the post type "Pros", will show at WP Admin -> Pros -> All items.
( screenshot: hidden link )

And when you'll open the edit screen of the individual "Pros" post, you'll be able to see which taxonomy terms are attached to it.
