Thank you. I will do as you say and update the ticket.

Question: The current site has a single custom post type "Products" which I converted to "Artwork".

There are a total of 5 different types of art on the site, with custom fields such as size material, etc. for each item. The problem is, the general search results shows all 5 types of art in the order they were last added.

Would we be better off declaring each of the 5 types of art as 5 individual custom post types, so their initial search results would display accordingly?

Would it be possible to add the additional post types to the staging site and configure as needed?

Thank you?

Creating multiple custom post types won't help, because WordPress search will always use the default order on post creation date.

Instead, you can build an archive template and assign it to the global Search. On the archive template, you can define what order you would use. https://toolset.com/course-lesson/creating-a-custom-archive-page/

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for opening this ticket and sharing this information.

Since artwork will not be categorized by custom post type, can I create a separate archive template for each category of artwork?

Another important project change, maybe it should be another ticket, but our rebuild has to enable the site owner to add new items, and edit existing items from the front-end and without having to login to the wp-admin. My market demographic and traffic are entirely frontend based.

What will I need to add to the rebuild to enable the artist to add new art products, and edit the archive from the front-end?

Thanks you for helping us bring this into focus.
