[Fixed in next Release] From beta to production

I am about to launch a site from development (staging) to production (live).
But I realized that at some point during development I had installed the Toolset plugins via the beta channel.
Installed are :
- Toolset Types : 3.4-beta1
- Toolset Forms : 2.6-beta1
- Toolset Access : 2.8.8-beta1
- Toolset Views : 3.3-beta1
- Toolset Module Manager : 1.8.6 (Production version)
Now I have to make sure the site is secure for production, but switching the Toolset plugins from beta to production is not possible directly according to the following docs :

For now, I changed the update channel to Production, but 3 questions remain :
1.- Is it absolutely necessary for me to do anything about the beta versions installed when I launch the site live
2.- If yes, do I have to uninstall/deactivate+delete the plugins and install the production versions ?
3. Am I going to loose all the plugins data by uninstalling them ? Or not ?

Hi,
On the same staging site hidden link, there is another concern :

- at the beginning of development, I had installed the WPML plugins, but I deleted them later when I decided to translate the site with the Weglot plugin instead. And recently, I cancelled my WPML account with OnTheGoSystems.
But now I still get the message (on the wp-admin Add extensions page) that I have to register WPML :

What can I do about this ?

I'll try to answer your questions below, let me know if you still need any information:

1.- Is it absolutely necessary for me to do anything about the beta versions installed when I launch the site live
No, as long as they are not active, no harm will be done. You may also delete them with no risk.

2.- If yes, do I have to uninstall/deactivate+delete the plugins and install the production versions ?
Yes, you will need to install the production versions manually.

3. Am I going to loose all the plugins data by uninstalling them ? Or not ?
No, the data is stored in the database.

Regarding the WPML notice, I would suggest forcing a version check, in Dashboard->Updates->Check again. Check this screenshot hidden link

Hi Jamal,
Thank you for your prompt response.

Unfortunately, the deactivating/deleting of the beta plugins and then the installation/activation of the same plugins' production version did not work properly.
Fortunately, I did this on a copy of my staging site !!!
Here is what happened :
- the CPTs and Relationships were preserved per se, but the connections between related Types and intermediary Post Types were lost
- for instance an exposition CPT content : Expositions have 2 many-to-many relationships : one with Artistes and one with with Oeuvres ; and it has a ont-to-many relationship with Collections (Collection being the One) :

All plugins are up-to-date.
I also tried to reset the View "Vue Oeuvres" in Elementor, but to no avail.

So, 2 questions :
1.- was the Toolset plugins change from beta to production, as described above, correct ? Or did I mess it up ?
2.- Is there anything that can be done to repair the lost connections between the above mentioned Types ?

For now, I will not do that change on my staging site, nor on the production site, as long as that change does not work.

Hello Francesco,

I checked with our 2nd Tier about these issues, and he confirms that the Beta versions are introducing some changes to the relationships. And that they also include a migration tool. If you are updating from stable versions to the beta versions the migration tool will prepare the relationship connection.

This change is not backward compatible. We can't actually revert back from the current Beta plugins to the current stable plugins, you will have to either:
- Prepare your posts again with the stable versions.
- Wait for the Beta versions to be released then use them as stable versions.

My apologies for not checking this before and letting you waste this time.

No harm was done since I did the change on a cloned staging site. All OK.

On the production live site, I will keep the -beta versions of the Toolset plugins as they are, as well as the update channel as Béta.

I'll set this ticket as fixed on the next release, this way, I'll keep you updated when the beta plugins are released on the production channel and we'll continue on this ticket. There is no ETA for the release, hopefully soon.

Sorry I am a little confused here.
Recently, new Beta channel updates were available for Types v. 3.4, Views v. 3.3 and Forms v.2.6 : but these don't seem to be Production channel updates, so I did not update. I am waiting for the Beta releases to be released on the Production channel.
