Hi,

I am trying to filter users in a view.

I know this functionality currently is unavailable but this articles (https://toolset.com/forums/topic/making-a-linkedin-style-member-directory-urgent-request/) shows it is possible with a custom post type.

Could you please give me more details on how to achieve this (users creation and edit) ?

Thanks in advance.

I have a few questions:

1. "I am trying to filter users in a view." - What kind of data are you looking to filter user's by?

2. I see on the following link that option #2 is "create a members custom post type". Is this the route you would like to take?

Thank you in advance. Feel free to add any other information you feel would help or attach images to the thread.

Hi,

1. I would like to filter users in a view by some of their meta fields (city, grades,..).

2. As it looks to be impossible, option 2 looks to be recommended even if it is not the route I would like to take because it is too much complicated for such a purpose. Any other suggestion appreciated.

I believe this can be done already. The referenced post is about 3 years old. Let me show you what options we have now and you can tell me if this works for you:

1. Create the user field in User Fields:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/user-fields/

2. Create a New View.

3. For the "Content Selection" choose "users":
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/

4. Under "Query Filter" choose the custom user field:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/filtering-views-by-custom-fields/

5. You can also use a conditional output as well:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/getting-started-views/part-6-conditional-statements-in-views/

Please let me know if this resolves your question or if it needs more investigation.

I'm afraid we misunderstand.

I am trying to build a parametric search view of users.

Sorry for the misunderstanding! I will get those instructions over to you shortly.

OK, thanks.

Please do your best to supply the information asap, my project is getting near to its end.

In this case, for parametric search, you can create a custom post type that works like the user's profile. For instance, create a CPT called "Profile" and then the user can be redirected to a page to create a profile.

From there you can create a parametric search for profiles.

For this you will using Toolset Types. We have a guide here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/#types-topics

Please let me know if this resolves your question or if it needs more investigation.
