Tell us what you are trying to do?
Hi got an update from toolset telling that Forms now can use Repeatable fields groups. I can not get it to work neither figure out how to accomplish. What i want is a recipe with ingredients as repeatable fields.
Tried to do a form for recipe then a form for repeatable fields ingredients. Do not know how to combine them and can not see anything in documentation on your website toolset.com.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/creating-and-displaying-repeatable-field-groups/front-end-forms-for-repeatable-field-groups/
Is there a similar example that we can see?
What is the link to your site?

Can you tell me where you saw this sentence?
(Hi got an update from toolset telling that Forms now can use Repeatable fields groups. )
Toolset Forms supports Repeatable Field Groups since Repeatable Field Groups exist.
You can add, and edit them, in post forms, this means you need to create a Post Form and choose the RFG (Repeatable Field Group) you want to add items to or edit items of.
It's elaborated here: https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/creating-and-displaying-repeatable-field-groups/front-end-forms-for-repeatable-field-groups/
This is as it seems the exact DOC you are following, and that works fine.
Please let me know if anything is not clear with the DOC so I can report it to the responsible ones.
Note, RFG's can only be added or edited one "one by one" base, so that means each form action (submit) will create one RFG item - this is different than in the backend, where you can add several such items "at once".
If you want the same as in the backend for Toolset Forms you would have to suggest this as a new feature here:
https://toolset.com/home/contact-us/suggest-a-new-feature-for-toolset/
Regarding https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/creating-and-displaying-repeatable-field-groups/front-end-forms-for-repeatable-field-groups/
1. Go to Toolset -> Post Forms and click the Add New button. i did that
2. After naming your form, select the post type connected to it. You will see repeatable field groups listed separately. I assume that i have to choose a repeatable type and not just a post type?
3. Select what happens after visitors submit this form... Its not clear if it is just a redirect or how to do it. where is the example? It says a house can have rooms but not how to achieve that?!
4. In my version of post form I do not have a content part in the form and not an Auto-Generate for Button. Where to find that?
5. click to finish and save your form
Then it says " You are done! You can now insert the form into any page and allow users to submit information using the repeatable field groups." but when i insert the form into a page i do not see any repeatable fields?
Could you specify in which direction a shall go?
I passed this feedback along, and you will be pleased to know that when this documentation was made I pointed out most of the issues you mention, however, it was decided to wait as my own judgement is not enough to decide over a ticket's wording... Now that you enforced my voice, we hopefully will change it.
Now, let me explain this so you can actually use Repeatable Fields Groups in the Forms.
How to create RFG (Repeatable Field Groups) with forms:
1. Go to Toolset > Post Forms and add a new form
2. Select the RFG you want to create items - you can find the RFG in the usual Post Type selector
3. Make sure the Post Status is "published"
4. The field to set the post to which the RFG belongs needs manually adding to the form. It is required, but you need to manually add it from the right to wherever you want it to appear in the form on the left.
At this point, you should be able to save the form and actually already use it.
Use this form by inserting it into any page you want. When you visit the page, you will be able to submit ONE RFG a time and choose to what post it should belong to.
Almost the same applies to edit forms, just that here, you need to insert the Edit Form into a View, that lists the RFG.
Then in the View, you insert the Form that edits the (single) RFG's.
I hope that helps!
I'm kind of lost here in this high level TOOLSET complex. Think its maybe easier to hardcode in vuejs...
As you can see from the screendumps a form is generated, but only with one line from the repeatable group?
The
https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/creating-and-displaying-repeatable-field-groups/front-end-forms-for-repeatable-field-groups/
stated that "Forms that submit information using repeatable field groups must feature a field to select the parent post. Otherwise, the submitted information cannot be retrieved and used. This field is included when auto-generating the form."
This field is not included or how or where??
Anyway. You lost me at 4: think you say its the fields from the repeatable group i have to drag into the window?!.. Done that.
5: Then i have a form with fields from the repeatable group as a normal form. Where do the combination of parent/child post come in? How do i in TOOLSET know where the repeatable group belongs to?
I can se that i can submit ONE RFG at a time but can not find any documentation how to use a page with a form that also have repeatable groups that actually belongs to a specific form like in a relation.
I already have spent to much time at work, but is it possible and if can you point in some direction?
As I stated in my #4 above, the field to choose the parent post is not included by default.
You need to drag it from the right to the left.
I attached a small movie of this process done on a Form, that creates new RFG.

With this, #5 also should be cleared.
As I stated previously, only one RFG can be submitted a time, in a Toolset Form
Only in the backend, you can add many RFG at a time, I have elaborated on that here:
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/does-front-end-forms-for-repeatable-field-groups-work/#post-1204392
"When you visit the page, you will be able to submit ONE RFG a time and choose to what post it should belong to."
I apologise that neither the DOC nor my explanation was clear enough and that my weekend came in between the replies, which produced the long waiting time.
My issue is resolved now. Thank you!
