Hello,

I'm pretty new to Toolset and run into a problem, which I found no solution in searching the documentation and the support forum:
I successfully build a custom post type called 'Hersteller' and build a Archiv called 'Hersteller' (slug 'hersteller') to list these posts. My problem is now, when loading wp.thermik.at/hersteller I do not get the proper post but the regular Blog posts from WordPress. Same happens when I build a page and include [wpv-view name="Hersteller"] on this page.

I guess, this problem can be solved in Prefences > Frontend > Theme-Support for Content Templates (I translated this one from german now). But here I cannot declare the proper function as activating this error handling function does not show me the function name.

I hope, I could describe what my problem is, as I see the backend in german.

Thanx for your support,
Robert

Hi Robert,

Welcome to the Toolset support forum and I'd be happy to assist.

To troubleshoot this and suggest the best way forward, I'll need to see exactly how this WordPress Archive and post view is set up in the admin area.

Can you please share temporary admin login details, in reply to this message?

Note: Your next reply will be private and though no changes will be made on your website, please make a complete backup copy, before sharing the access details.

regards,
Waqar

Hi Robert,

Thank you for sharing the admin access.

It seems that the "Scoop" theme which is active on your website, uses some non-standard or unconventional way to show the list of posts on the WordPress Archive pages. That is the reason that a WordPress Archive created using the Toolset is not applied to the post type archive page ( hidden link ).

To confirm this, I'll suggest the following steps:

1. Please make sure that WordPress, active theme and plugins are all updated to the latest versions.

2. It would be interesting to test this with all non-Toolset plugins disabled and a default theme like Twenty Twenty.

If it's fixed, you can start adding the disabled items, one-by-one, to narrow down to a possible conflicting one.

3. In case the issue still persists, I'll need a clone/snapshot of your website, to perform some further tests on this particular theme.

Here is a guide on how to share the website's clone/snapshot:

Please let me know how it goes and your next reply is also set as private.

Waqar

Hi Robert,

Thank you for sharing the duplicator package.

I've successfully deployed it on my own server and will be performing some tests, accordingly.

Will update you with my findings, as soon as this testing completes.

Thank you for your patience.

Waqar

Hi Robert,

Sorry about the delay as this troubleshooting turned out to be more complex than I originally anticipated.

I'll be resuming some testing on this and will share the results, by the end of the day.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for waiting.

During troubleshooting, I was able to confirm that the way the "Scoop" theme's archive page template is designed, it is not compatible with the "WordPress Archives" feature of Toolset.

Here is a quick workaround though, that works in my test. You can copy download the latest copy of the default WordPress theme "Twenty Twenty".

In that theme's folder, you'll see a file named "index.php". Please rename it to "archive.php" and place it in your child theme's folder.
( /wp-content/themes/scoop-child )

You can learn more about WordPress template hierarchy, from this guide:

Hello,

Sorry, but I still need your help. So meanwhile I changed the whole theme as you told me, that the problems came from the Scoop theme. This time I installed the theme framework Kalium, which is very high rated and I used many times. The good message: the archive call is now working: hidden link

Problems are:

1. I cannot understand, why this message 'Loading posts' is displayed and how to get rid of it

2. When you log in(!) to WordPress (the sent account is still active) then you can see some fancy Debug message within normal blog posts (also see screenshot). Same message is when calling an single custom post: hidden link

I talked to Laborator, the publisher of this theme, and they told me, that this message is from Toolset. Truly, if I deactivate Toolset Blocks, this message is no longer.

What can I do?

Thank you,
Robert
