Fresh install of Toolset with Kadence theme.

1. Can you please check the ability to create a content template that displays with correct formatting with the Kadence theme?
2. Can you please check how one reassigns the layout to the default archive (archive.php) with Kadence theme?

Specifically, if would like to use the default archive.php for a Custom Post Type Archive, how can I assign the default archive.php as the archive if archive.php doesn't show up in the dashboard?

How can I assign the default archive.php to my custom post type archive? Currently there is a button to "Create Archive" and the following text above the button with a burgundy caution triangle: "There is no WordPress Archive for News."

I would like it to display my theme's default archive.php in this area so I do not need to make a content template for my archive.

The attached image shows the issue we are having.

It seems the Kadence theme archive file is called index.php.

How can I get Toolset to "see" index.php?

How can I point Toolset to index.php?

Thx

I just received this message from the theme developer:

Hey,
So yeah you are correct, there is no archive file, instead it pulls from the index, see the hierarchy here: https://developer.wordpress.org/files/2014/10/Screenshot-2019-01-23-00.20.04.png

Just to note, the theme does have a template-parts/content/archive.php file which is hooked in on the kadence_archive action. This makes it work really well with pagebuilders because they can hook in their content.

Hopefully this helps in debugging the Toolset - Kadence theme compatibility issue.

Hi,

Thank you for waiting while I performed some tests with the "Kadence" theme.

During testing, I found nothing unexpected or conflicting, when using Toolset's content template or WordPress Archive with this theme.

Reading through our chat again and your conversation with Shane from the other ticket ( ref: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/i-would-like-to-use-the-themdefault-archive-php-for-a-custom-post-type-archive/ ), I believe the main point of confusion is that you're expecting theme's default Archive information to show up in the Toolset's dashboard area.
( WP Admin -> Toolset -> Dashboard )

No matter which theme you'll use, that dashboard area, will only show the WordPress Archives created through Toolset or the "archive.php" text if you haven't created a WordPress Archive through Toolset and the theme's folder includes a file named "archive.php" in the root folder.

Although functionally, there is no value or advantage of this step and you can choose to just ignore the warning, if you absolutely want to see the text "archive.php" in the archive column, you can copy the theme's "index.php" file and rename the copy to "archive.php".

I hope this explanation will make this more clear. You're also welcome to test the same on your website, with "Kadence" and the default "Twenty Twenty" theme, and let me know in case you have any different results.

Note: I'll send a separate reply to the other question about the search form.

regards,
Waqar
