I have a view that lists applications to scholarship program for a museum. The view is set to page at 1 application.

I have a second view in a sidebar widget that list all the applicants by last name that links to that applicantion CPT type.

The issue is that once you link from the sidebar view into a single application the paging is gone.

So my question would be how to preserve the paging some how when following a link from the list of applicans in to the individual applications

Is there a way to form a link to a single page inside the view? Or failing that a way to have previous next links on the CPT type records similar to this but that preserves that sort which is by last name

Hi Steve,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

I'm not sure what you mean by preserving the last name sorting . Is it that your posts are sorted by last name ?

Usually posts are navigating by their post order.

Thanks,
Shane

Yes thats correct Shane- The view sorts the post based on the applicants last name

Hi Steve,

So each of the posts have this view on it that is already pre-sorted correct?

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Shane

That's correct Shane. The view list all of the posts sorted by last name and displays one post at a time. However the issue is not moving between post in the view.

Id like to be able to reproduce the functionality of moving to the next and previous post but when looking at the single view or a post. If this isnt clear can you make my next reply private. and i'll send you a url and a password as the page is private

Hi Steve,

I'll enable the private fields and could you provide the credentials as well as seeing the setup might provide a clearer view.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi Steve,

I understand now.

Unfortunately it wouldn't be possible to keep the same sorting as the wordpress pagination works by using the post publish date.

You can follow the post here to create the pagination shortcode.
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/cpt-content-template-navigation/

However the ordering won't be kept.

Thanks
Shane

Ok i hear you there Shane- Is it possible there's some link syntax that would take me to page x of the view on the right then

something like
hidden link for example. Perhaps i could create an alternative link structure in my widget list rather than linking to the post url
