Is it possible to create filter/search buttons horizontally in the block editor like the first images in this guide?
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/front-page-filters/
I have tried to create a grid with columns and insert the filters there but this just creates a grid with ROWS instead. I wonder why?
Se screenshot.
Thanks in advance.
It seems I can put them horizontally if I just put them into another grid block (not the Toolset grid block which seems to have bug and creates columns instead of columns).

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem when I just tested now.
I added a custom search View to a page with the block editor.
In the filters section, I first inserted a native WordPress columns block with 3 columns, then added a taxonomy filter, a submit button, and a reset button, then dragged and dropped each of these into their own column. That worked okay.
I then repeated the test with the Toolset Grid block instead of the native columns block, and it again worked as expected.
You can see in the screenshots the block navigator showing the results in each case.
Are there more details you can share about what isn't working?
Hmm. "View search" is this a block? I do not have it.
Do you mind doing a quick login at my admin (testsite) and see what is going on? And see why my "Toolset grids block" makes rows instead of columns?

The "View Search" block is where you add your search filters, I don't know how you would attempt it otherwise.
If you didn't use the search toggle when creating the View, you can activate it subsequently in the View block settings (screenshot).
I can take a look at your site, please make sure you are using the latest plugin versions.
I will mark your next reply as private so that I can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for me to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.
If I create a page with a View demonstrating this, what content should the View query, and what filters should I include?
I see the "new" options show up when I edit an existing view, but not when I create a new view.
The "view search block" is it a selectable blockof its own or...? haven´t seen it.
Best, and thanks for the assistance

Thanks for providing access.
I can see the problem with the Grid showing rows rather than columns, but the other "issues" are not really issues, I don't think.
You should make sure you are familiar with the Block Navigation component at the top of the page, highlighted in the first screenshot.
It helps you navigate between different block levels when clicking directly on them within the editor to select them can prove difficult. (It's a core component of the WordPress editor.)
If you select the View block then you will see the settings for the entire View (second screenshot).
There you can enable the search filters section if you didn't when creating the View, and you can also add a limit setting.
These screenshots are from a page "Nigel" I created on your site.
I did find that the Grid element shows as rows rather than columns.
That's likely because of a conflict with another plugin.
Do you have a staging site where you can test disabling other plugins (especially anything block-related) to see if it is possible to isolate where the conflict comes from?
Hi Nigel.
Thanks. Regarding the rows instead of blocks, I have some other Guthenberg blocks plugin installed, I guess it is one of them and let you know so you know which plugins cause problems with Guthenberg.
I am aware of the block navigation, I will try to add the search options there.
One REMAINING question, is it possible to create a search block WITHOUT any posts shown, to be shown in a widget in a sidebar?
I can see that is possible with the old views plugin.
Thanks a lot for the assistance.

Regarding the last question, that's not supported right now, you would need to use Classic Views for that.
As something of compromise you can use a hybrid solution whereby you make the View with the classic editor, use the Loop Wizard for the output style required which creates a linked content template, and then design that template with Blocks.
Let me know if you identify a conflict with another plugin.
Thanks a lot, Nigel. I have disabled almost all other plugins, but the Toolset plugin still gives me rows insted af columns. But nevermind, there are other grids block available that I a can use instead.
One other problem though, you can perhaps look into while you still have login info. The Toolset Fields and Text block now gives me this error "The block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed". Do you know why? It also happens at the site you created hidden link
Btw, you last proposal "As something of compromise you can use a hybrid solution whereby you make the View with the classic editor, use the Loop Wizard for the output style required which creates a linked content template, and then design that template with Blocks". Thanks, but I will not dig into this because of lack of time, but I guess it is not possible to have "Views" and "Blocks" enabled at the same time.
Nigel is having a holiday today. He will get in touch with you as soon as he back to work tomorrow.

I looked at the page I had created before, and using the Block navigator I could see that the problem block is a Fields and Text block, but I don't recall what it was for. In fact, looking at it (when attempting to recover or convert to HTML) it looks like an empty block, so I deleted it, as the column was only intended to have a submit button (demonstrating adding filter controls horizontally, or trying to demonstrate that).
As for the hybrid approach, just let me clarify that you can only have the Blocks or Views plugin active, not both (they are effectively the same plugin but with different default settings), but in either plugin you can go to Toolset > Settings and opt to show one UI (Blocks or Classic) or both, which would probably make sense in your case.
Hi Nigel. I do not think I was clear enought. The fields and text error is a new general error that happens also on every site, also new sites, see screenshot. I have tried to deacitive and reinstall plugin, without any luck.

Do you have a staging site for testing?
I can see the problem adding a Fields and Text block to a new post, and it most likely arises from a conflict, so I need to try with plugins disabled etc., but this is a live site I believe...
Hi Nigel
Thanks for your assistance. No, the current site is testsite, so no worries...
