I am trying to: Having the same issue now on a different Content Template. It's for an archive layout (post type and taxonomy). I have the Theme Options available, but the page won't accept it and defaults to the sidebar. I've set it to fullwidth.

First, the Views Content Template won't be able to customize the full design of the wordpress archive page, it can only customize each item of the archive page, see our document:

In most case, we use Views wordpress archive to customize the archive page:

But for DIVI theme, Views wordpress archive doesn't provide the full-width option in the "layout" drop-down menu, see screenshot divi-layout.png
You might try some other workaround to hide the sidebar area, for example this thread:
