I have two custom post types: cpt1 & cpt2. I have a few posts in cpt2. I want to transfer those posts to cpt1. How can I do that?

#2579663

Hello,

I assume you are using Toolset Types plugin to setup those custom post types.

If it is, you just need to edit that custom post type, in section "Name and description", and change the option values:
- Name plural
- Name singular
- Slug
All posts will be transfer to new post type automatically.

But to avoid anything wrong, please backup your website database first.

Hi there, Thanks for the reply.
I want to keep both of the custom post types. I just want to transfer the existing cpt2 posts to cpt1 posts. Is there any way or plugin that you recommend to use?

#2581125

It is not clear, are you going to transfer posts or duplicate the posts? Please elaborate the question with more details.

I want to keep both of the custom post types. I just want to transfer the existing cpt2 posts to cpt1 posts.

If you want to duplicate the posts, you can export the existing cpt2 posts:
hidden link
Then modify the XML files, change the post type slugs to cpt1, and import them into your website again:

Unfortunately, there isn't such kind of built-in feature within Toolset plugins, you will consider custom codes or other plugins, for example:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-type-switcher/

#2582043

Thanks for the answer. I would use the plugin. One thing I would request you to answer me is that, can using that plugin do any problem to my website like database problem or something other?

#2582051

No, we don't provide any warranty for other plugins, but I suggest you backup your website database first in case any unexpected result.
