[Resolved] A question about AJAX requests in Toolset

Hi there,

We had a general question about Toolset and AJAX. While working with our web host to decrease resource usage on our website, one of the culprits that was identified was frequent visits to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php from Toolset. (We're examining the homepage, lifetimearts.org, and some subpages.) On the homepage, we have a slider that was auto-advancing; the hits to admin-ajax.php weren't surprising. (The auto-advancing function has since been disabled.)

We've been informed by our web host that other pages which do not have slideshows also make calls to admin-ajax.php. Here's my question: aside from slideshows and things like filters on a page like hidden link, where else is AJAX employed by Toolset? Can you point me to a way to identify Toolset's AJAX usage on a given page or site-wide (e.g., via Query Monitor)?

Hi Saul,

Toolset's front-end AJAX comes from View settings, so it's identifiable per View rather than site-wide. The features that generate admin-ajax.php traffic:

- Pagination with AJAX transition — manual (visitor clicks) or automatic (sliders).
- Custom search with "AJAX refresh when changing any filter" — fires on every input change, with no submit button.
- AJAX results update when visitors click the search button.
- Front-end sorting on a View that updates via AJAX.
- Infinite scroll pagination.
- Maps updating when AJAX search results change.

A View with none of these enabled makes no AJAX calls.

To identify per page:

- Open the page, press F12 → Network tab, filter by admin-ajax.
- Interact with the page and reload.
- Click a request → Payload (or Request) tab → look at the action parameter.

Toolset's actions are prefixed wpv_.

Anything else belongs to another plugin.
