Upon updating Access to 2.8.5, users with role Author were no longer able to see or access sections of the back end menu. These are sections that are not even governed by Access. It is possible this may be due to a conflict with a plugin called Adminimize that we use on the site. But that is just a guess. We have rolled back plugin for Access to 2.8.4 and site is working properly again. We are unable to provide any links to show the issue, as we're now on a rolled back version. Please fix plugin so we can safely update.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.

To troubleshoot this, I'll suggest the following steps:

1. Please update to the latest 2.8.5.1 version of the Access plugin and see if the issue with the missing section is resolved.

2. In case it persists, it would be interesting to test this with all non-Toolset plugins disabled.

If it's fixed, you can start adding the disabled items, one-by-one, to narrow down to a possible conflicting one.

3. If that doesn't work, you can share a clone/snapshot of your website along with the details of the missing sections, so that it can be investigated in depth on a different server, without affecting the actual website.

Please let me know how it goes and I've set your next reply as private.

We will test the 2.8.5.1 version on our development server, rather than the production site. But the toolset license is not active there. Can you please enable it so that our license will work on domain zoomroom.syr? Thanks. This ony needs to be a temporary grant so that we can see if this resolves all issues caused by 2.8.5.

Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

You won't need a separate license or registration key for your development website since the Toolset plugins would keep on working without the registration:
https://toolset.com/faq/how-to-install-and-register-toolset/#registering-toolset-in-a-development-environment

The registration is needed only for the automatic plugin installation and updates feature to work:
https://toolset.com/faq/how-to-install-and-register-toolset/#registering-toolset-in-a-development-environment

You can either keep working on the development website without registration or temporarily delete the site key generated for the production website and create a new one for the development website.
( removing registration key from the production won't stop the plugins from working on it )

And once the troubleshooting is over, you can delete this temporary site key for the development website and generate a new one for the production again.

I hope this makes sense and please let me know how it goes.

regards,
Waqar
