We're using Toolset plugins on our site, and have relationship within post types based on the toolset association.

We faced frequent issues due to the toolset plugins though it wasn't a critical one. However, since part 30 days, we're facing frequent time outs causing the site going down number of times o daily basis.

We talked to Cloudways (hosting provider) and they suggested that load is coming from the Toolset plugins and the queries, and they advised us to raise it here. I'll attach the screenshot of the discussion with them.

They recently had MySQL database update and we feel the issue increased exponentially post update.

Whenever someone tries to add/edit a post where we have toolset relations, it takes too much time just to open the page.

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

That is strange. Sever related performance issues are not straight forward and needs deep debugging.

May I know with what request exactly you have issue with? Is the request is from frontend or backend?

In order to isolate the issue and eliminate any possible plugin/theme conflict:
Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?
- Do you see any difference?

What if you enable the WP_DEBUG and also try to log the errors and check the error log file if you see any error:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
define('WP_DISABLE_FATAL_ERROR_HANDLER',true);

That will create a debug.log file in your /wp-content/ directory which you can examine in any text editor.

You can see how to enable debug logging here:
- https://toolset.com/documentation/programmer-reference/debugging-sites-built-with-toolset/

In addition to that - Could you please send me debug information that will help us to investigate your issue.

It happens when admin / editor tries to edit a post in the backend.

Slow queries in the CMS are all tied to Toolset relationships, taking roughly a minute to load. Which is too high.

The query build by Toolset will be depend on the content and relationship you have.

In order to minimize the cause of the issue and to eliminate any possible conflict:
Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?
- Do you see any difference/improvement?
- What if you try to increase the MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT?

If none of the above step helps:
Can you please share details while editing what post/page I can see the issue?

*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.

I see you are using multisite.

In general, performance obviously affects the site speed when you have hundreds of custom post type setup with the number of taxonomies as well as custom fields and post relationship. Another aspect is how much content you have (number of posts with post types, terms with taxonomies etc...) BUT it depends also on your server configuration (CPU,memory,cashing) as well as number of other factors such as how complex your data structure is.

When I edit the post:

I see six post relationship is attached to post and you have almost thirteen thousand posts available with your post type "Article". Having that many posts even if you try to check without Toolset as well and try to run query on thirteen thousand posts you may notice some slowness.

Also under the "Series" section I see there are few select box but with almost thousands of options that is obviously the reason that the backend editing is slow.
