I am trying to access Toolset settings to control the user access but now I cannot access any of the Toolset settings as I have mistakenly removed my privileges so now I have restricted access across the administration dashboard.

I apologise for being so stupid, but can you help please?

Kind regards
Brendan Moran

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

- I would like to know what entity (post types, taxonomies) you want to control?
- Have you installed the Toolset Access plugin?

More info:

How you restricted? Can you please share few screenshots?

or with what user role you see such restrictions?

I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.

When I logged in to wp-admin, I do not see the plugins page.

Do you see the plugins page? or I need admin user level rights to see the plugins page.

#1275645

Minesh, That's one of the problems, even at full administrator level the plugins are not visible. this is because I restricted them in Toolset Access plugin but I must have set this at Administrator level rather than just the Site Admin user level.

I would suggest you to run a compatibility test:
Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?

1)
-Could you please send me debug information that will help us to investigate your issue.
=> https://toolset.com/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

2)
Could you please activate WP_DEBUG from wp-config.php file and send me possible errors for review.

*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
- I know you do not have access to the plugins page, please try to create a new admin user and check if you able to access the plugins page
- otherwise, try to remove all plugins using FTP and check if you able to restore the plugins page
- If the above points do not help:
-- Try to install Toolset plugins to brand new WordPress install and check if you able to reproduce the issue

Minesh,

I am unable to provide the debug information as the site will not let me access this.

How do you activate the WP_DEBUG from wp-config.php file?

I have created a new user with full wp admin access but again I have restricted access and cannot view plugins.

I will delete the plugins one by one through ftp.

Here is the Doc that you can refer and check how you can enable the WordPress debugging:
=> https://toolset.com/documentation/programmer-reference/debugging-sites-built-with-toolset/#alternative-debugging-method

This is a rare case or your site is corrupted so you need to check step by step. As no user reported such an issue. In any case, please do not forget to backup your database and website first then start debugging step by step.

Hi Minesh,

The issue is gaining access to the Toolset Access plugin so that I can reset the user permissions. Is this information contained in a file that I could access via FTP or does it also affect other files within wordpress?

No - all permissions you set using the access plugin should be stored to database not to the file.

I request you to find a way and delete the access plugin as it certainly looks like your setup is corrupted. If you able to remove and deactivate the access plugin using FTP and try to reinstall all Toolset plugins again and check if that helps.

I have activated the WP_DEBUG from wp-config.php file and added line define('TOOLSET_LOGGING_STATUS', 'info'); What do you want me to provide as you will see this in the Javascript console for each page.

I have also deactivated plugins and themes and still I couldn't retrieve full administration rights across the site. Where does Toolset Access overwrite WordPress access levels?

Sorry, as I know this was my fault by making the initial mistake in Toolset Access by restricting access for all user roles including WordPress top level Administrator level. The site is not broken and Toolset Access is doing the job it is supposed to do. I just need to get back in somehow and reset the restrictions.

It is really important that I get this resolved ASAP. Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Brendan

By default Administrator's access details is already granted. You can not change it even using the Toolset Access.

For example - As you can see with Administrator role - ALL permissions are automatically granted and you do not have permissions to change it:
=> hidden link

What steps did you follow to change the Administrator permissions?

As I do not able to access anything in the backend - I need a way to access your database. Can you please share details how I can access your database?

As well as for which role you have changed the permissions?

#1276507

Hi Minesh,

I changed the access in the custom role and advanced settings.

I can send you access details to the database is the link private?

Thanks Brendan
