Hi Toolset Team

when using a child view via the Elementor Toolset Views widget it displays the following:
[wpv-view id="603" order="default" orderby_second="default" order_second="default"]

instead of the child view

It perfectly worked until the last update to Forms V2.1 which came with an updated Tools Widget, which works great with parent views.

Maybe it would be cool to have the old widget back just to display child views.

In the meantime I could work around this issue by simply using the views shortcodes in an Elementor text widget, just in case somebody else experiences the same thing.

Best regards

Hello,

Please elaborate the question with more details:

when using a child view via the Elementor Toolset Views widget it displays the following:

How and where can I see the shortcodes you mentioned above?
Could you provide the detail steps? I need to duplicate the same problem and debug it in my localhost, thanks

Hi Luo

thanks for looking into this 🙂

I did the following:

- created 2 new CPT's : Events and Participants with a many to many relation between them

- then I created a View for Events with search and sort options and a child view for Participants.

After this I did the following in Elementor (using the Pro version)

I made a Single Template for Events with the aim to display the event details and the list of participants for that event using the "Single" Widgets from Elementor Pro like Post Title, Featured Image and Post Content

After this I added the Child View for Participants via the Toolset Widget where I just selected the wanted view, without touching the additional override and sorting settings.

This then returned the single event properly but in place of the child view I got the following:

[wpv-view id="603" order="default" orderby_second="default" order_second="default"]

This happened after the update to Forms 2.1 before the update it simply showed the child view as expected, so to me it looks like everything is fine with that child view (though on the pre 2.1 I didn't had any option to set in the Toolsest Views Widget).

So I tinkered around a bit and tried to use the Elementor shortcode and html widget to use the following shortcode for the child view: [wpv-view name="child-view-event-participants"] which didnt work.

But then Adding this shortcode to a text widget it worked like a charm, displaying the parent and child info's together.

I hope with this info's you can replicate this behavior

Please don't hesitate to let me know if i can be of any help.

Best regards, Peter

I have tried the steps you mentioned above, there isn't same problem, please try these:
1) Make sure you are using the latest version of Toolset plugins,
2) In case it is a compatibility problem, please deactivate other plugins, and switch to wordpress default theme 2017, and test again
3) If the problem still persists, provide a copy of your website, also point out the problem page URL and URL of "Single Template for Events", I need to duplicate the same problem in my localhost.

Hi Luo

thanks for your reply

Which theme you used ? I use Astra (because it was recommended here: https://toolset.com/documentation/recommended-themes/

I did use the latest versions of of all plugins/themes: Astra, Elementor, Elementor Pro, Toolset

Can you provide me a few screen shots of your your working version (Plugins List, Toolset Views Setup, Elementor and Frontend ) to check if I missed something. But i rather think that you still use the old Toolset Views Widget which worked fine.

Best Regards, Peter

I am using the latest version of Toolset plugins + Elementor plugin + Astra theme, see screenshot plugins.JPG.

I have tried to create a template here:
Dashboard-> Elementor-> My Templates, add a Toolset view widget, see screenshot elementor-template.JPG

There isn't the same problem as you mentioned:
[wpv-view id="603" order="default" orderby_second="default" order_second="default"]

Hi Luo

Thanks for the screenshots - i see why your version seems to be working, it looks to me that it isn't a parent child setup on your template. BTW - The fancy error I don't get when in Elementor but in the page on the site.

Let me show you the screenshots from my example, maybe it can help you to replicate this in your site.

I am not familiar with the Elementor parent/child template, please provide database dump file(ZIP file) of your website, also point out the problem page URL and template URL, I need to test and debug it in my localhost, thanks

Hi Luo

thanks for your reply

After a closer look at your screenshots I noticed that you use the free version of Elementor and don't have the option to use/create Single Post Templates, which is only available in the Pro Version

So this makes it a bit tricky to replicate this on your setup.

Maybe it would be easiest to forward this to the dev's of the Toolset Widgets, as I guess they will have the Elementor Pro Addon available to test things.

Following the steps of this conversation, it should be easy for them to replicate this issue.

In the meantime I just skip the usage of the Toolset Widgets in Elementor and add the shortcodes via the text widget, where I also can use conditions (which is also not possible in the Toolset Widget).

I understand that the use Elementor is quite new for the Toolset community and the devs and that things need time to progress, so there is no hurry to look into this issue, as it can be worked around.

Best regards and thanks again for looking into this, Peter
