[Resolved] Trying to install the plugin into word press

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I'm trying to install the Toolset Blocks plugin in wp-admin > Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin
but I see an error message upon uploading the plugin zip archive:
"The link you followed has expired. Please try again."

Solution: Ask your hosting company to turn on file_uploads and ensure your upload_max_filesize, maximum post file size, and memory limits are sufficient for plugin needs.

What happens? You try to manually upload the zip file for Blocks on the Add New Plugins page, and you get the message "The link you followed has expired"?

That's unexpected, clearly.

Is there any progress before that message?

I would guess that the error is misleading, and you perhaps have an issue because of the PHP settings for upload_max_filesize or max_execution_time, though on a typical host neither should be an issue just to upload and install a plugin, even a fairly large one like Toolset Blocks.

Could you go to Tools > Site Health, open the Info page and open the Server tab.

What are the values for those settings?

Can you also check your debug.log?

If you haven't already, turn on the debug log by editing your wp-config.php file and change the line with WP_DEBUG like so:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
define('WP_DISABLE_FATAL_ERROR_HANDLER',true);

That will create a debug.log file in your /wp-content/ directory which you can examine in any text editor.

Try uploading the plugin again and then inspect the log. If you don't find the debug.log file it means it didn't generate any warnings or errors.

Hi

Here is the readout. Looks like a 2MB upload. Would this be the right field I am looking at. Debug is set to false.

That looks like the problem, the upload_max_filesize is tiny, at only 2Mb.

You may need to speak to your host about increasing that, that setting would typically be much larger, e.g. 1024Mb or more.

Another noteworthy setting -

file_uploads: File uploads is turned off

If you are unable to upload any images in the Media Library, this file_uploads setting should probably be turned on. Also I thought I'd mention for a more immediate solution while you wait for your hosting provider's assistance, you can unzip the plugin archive and upload it directly to your server using FTP or your server control panel's file manager. Once unzipped, the plugin folder should be uploaded in the directory /wp-content/plugins/.

The file size, post file size and memory allocation all had to be increased . I used File size 128M postfile size 256M and memory allocation 386M to handle the plugin. I tried lower values but did not work.

My issue is resolved now. Thank you!
