>> Tell us what you are trying to do?
I have a taxonomy view on the front page of a site running in French and English using WPML. It lists the child terms of a Category named 'Topics'. The parent term and the child terms have been translated using WPML's category translation. The view is supposed to display the Category Name, Image and Description across two columns as seen on the english front page, hidden link but on the french front page (hidden link) the view is empty and the 'nothing found' message appears.
The screen shots show the view editing window with the taxonomy term selected. In english, it says 'Topics' and in french 'Sujets'. Which seems promising. But the list is empty. There is translated content for each of the categories, so the topic listings should show up.
What am I missing?
>> Is there any documentation that you are following?
No. If there's something to help me with this please send the URL.
>> Is there a similar example that we can see?
Someone has done this no doubt, but I don't know who or where.
What is the link to your site?
Eng: hidden link Fra: hidden link
Hi there,
According to the documentation below:
https://toolset.com/lesson-placement/lesson-placements-1707695-1720753/#translating-views
You do not need to add separate views. By adding the view to the page in question and translating the page it should work.
If it is not, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.
Make sure you set the next reply as private.
Hi there,
Thank you for the login information.
I checked, and it seems that you did everything correctly regarding Toolset and this needs to be addressed on the WPML side.
What I have found is that even for example if you click on the Quality term, and try to check the French version it does not show:
hidden link
hidden link
I went to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting and synchronized Post taxonomies with no result.
But I found out that in WPML > Taxonomy Translation the default category slug was not translated at the very bottom of the screen.
I did that and it fixed the issue above that I mentioned. But the listing still has an issue.
Would you please check for a possible plugin or theme conflict? I could not do that on a live website.
- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and Toolset and their add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
Thanks.
It's W3 Total Cache. I think.
This is a multisite installation so I turned off all the plugins that I could. And I network-deactivated W3 Total Cache because I hate having to clear the server cache all the time while I'm troubleshooting. And now not only is the view working on the test site, it's working on the production site. I have re-enabled it on the network, but the view is still working.
Does Toolset have a caching plugin that they recommend? I've had all kinds of problems with W3TC.

Hi there,
Thank you for testing. This is more of a WPML and cache plugin compatibility. W3 total cache is compatible with WPML but if you want to know about recommended plugins you can learn more here:

Thanks.
My issue is resolved now. Thank you!
