This is a continuation of the topic: Toolset VIEWS causing Elementor to break
I have now discovered what may be the "trigger" which seems to be causing this problem to occur.
The site displays the work of a cartoonist who has been creating a cartoon every day for about 30 years. There are over 12,000 cartoons in his archive (not all loaded on to this site though).
Each day a new cartoon is set as the "Cartoon of the Day" and is displayed in first row of content on the HOME page. On the following day, a new cartoon will appear in this spot and the previous one will be seen in the Archives (also accessible from the main navigation bar).
Since October, 2023, he has ceased from producing new work and has been "recycling" older cartoons, by assigning a different "Cartoon Date". This "Cartoon Date" is a custom field and is separate from the Published Date of the post.
This has all worked well until recently when the Elementor design of the site broke.
I think it may have been caused by changing both the Cartoon Date and the Published Date of a Comic.
Is that likely??
Is it possible that changing a Published Date of a post in the Comic custom post type would somehow confuse the Toolset Views plugin and that this in turn has caused the Elementor design to break.
I know that it sound a bit convoluted, but once this has happened, the only way to recover the Elementor design of the site is to deactivate the Toolset Views plugin.
It's impossible to say how plausible that is as a cause of the problems without having a better idea of how this is set up.
But also, what specifically does "causing Elementor to break" mean? How does it break?
If we know what exactly breaks and can examine the site we might be able to locate the source of the problem.
Do you have a staging or development server we can use for testing? (We would likely need to see the site in the broken state, and you won't want to leave the production site broken.)
Let me mark your next reply as private so that we can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for us to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.
I read the previous thread, which seems inconclusive, and it didn't include a description of quite how the Elementor design broke.
Without knowing that or access to the site where the problem can be seen there's not much we can say.
Could I request access again to a staging server that has the site with the problem visible?
(For security when a thread is resolved the private replies are cleared, so we no longer have details of how to access your site, and need to request them again. I'll set another private reply.)
