I expected to see:
The PDF icon displayed before the "Get Acrobat Reader" text in the button.
Instead, I got:
Broken icon/font code
Information:
I have created a WordPress pattern that include a single toolset button. The icon displays correctly in the WP Editor, but is broken on the frontend. See attached screenshots.
I've been testing this, and it is certainly temperamental.
On my site I found that if I add a Button block and select and icon, it initially works.
But if I then edit the Button block settings and change the icon to try a different one, then it breaks in the same way you describe.
The workaround is to delete the Button block and insert a new one, setting the required icon. It should continue to work as long as you don't edit it again.
Could you please try that and let me know if that works?
There are all kinds of problems with the implementation of the button icon. Adding a new button, the search icon function does not work consistently, so an icon cannot be chosen. Switching between icon sets, the search MIGHT work, or might not. Toggling "Expert Settings", randomly changes the linked css regardless of which icon set is chosen, you have to manually type in the font family and font code - instead of it being filled in automatically from the basic settings.
I did as you suggested, and the icon ended up broken in the editor AND on the front-end. Nothing I did resulted in the icon being displayed in the editor. Even manually entering the expert settings. This USED to work properly several versions of Toolset/Wordpress ago. Choose Icon Set, search or click icon, done.
I've relayed in the internal ticket that this is not working well at all and needs a complete review, and I've also asked the developers to look into it as soon as possible.
