>> Tell us what you are trying to do?
My client has some wordy post excerpts and they want all the words to appear.
When I am building a view of lists of posts — whether it's a Toolset Type or default WordPress — I can insert the post excerpt as dynamic content for a block.
When I do, the excerpt displays but is often truncated. When I configure how the post-excerpt is displayed, I can truncate by character count or word count, but it won't let me increase the maximum to something that would accommodate the client's writing preferences.
I need to change the slider range or somehow allow for longer excerpts or I will have to create a custom field that behaves like the excerpt but allows more words.

Hi, I ran a quick test and I saw that the number of words/characters in the field settings is limited by the excerpt of the post shown in the editor. In other words, the first result in the View dictates the excerpt length options. That seems odd, and I will escalate that as an issue to my developers. In the meantime, I was able to work around this by editing that post (the first result in the View) and giving it a very long example excerpt temporarily, something like 150 words. Then I reloaded the page in wp-admin where the View can be edited, and now the excerpt field allows me to choose a longer excerpt length. After choosing the longer length, I re-edited the first result post and set the correct excerpt again.
Will this temporary workaround help in your case?
I got it working once. On posts, which bought me a few dozen more words. We're showing it to the client in a few days and need to launch next week so if there was a way to make this stable/predictable real quick that would help.
Or at least assure me that if someone posts a new blog item with a ten word blurb it's not going to obliterate the longer blurbs because suddenly ten words is the new maximum.
The word/character count you specify in the block settings of this View will continue to persist as long as you don't edit the View itself. If you edit the View and a different post is the first result, the maximum value may be reset based on that first result. I'm asking my developers to check this behavior, because it's not really intuitive. Hopefully we can come up with a better solution here in a future release.
Top drawer support as always. Many thanks.
