I am having the latest version of Types and Access, WordPress 5.2.4. By the way, I am kind of good at using Toolset and Views, but very new to Access (I just downloaded and installed it today)
I am trying to use Access to control some of my custom fields by roles, I read carefully of your tutorials, but the Types Fields of Access is NOT clickable/checkable (see attached Untitled-1.jpg)
I am not sure if anything I did is wrong or missing. Please give me some advices.
Thank you
Hello, there was a known issue in Access 2.8.1.3 related to these checkboxes. If you had Access 2.8.1.3 installed before, please be sure to clear your browser cache and any minified JavaScript files, then test again.
https://toolset.com/errata/checkboxes-in-toolset-access-forms-settings-are-not-working/
If the problem remain after clearing cache and minified files, then there could be something else going on. Please try these troubleshooting steps first:
- Temporarily activate a default theme like Twenty Nineteen. Deactivate all plugins except Types, Views and Access.
- Test again.
- If the problem is solved, reactivate your theme and other plugins one by one until the problem returns
- If the problem is not solved, I must take a closer look.
Let me know what you find out.
thank you for your quick reply!
my Access is 2.8.2 and I didn't installed 2.8.1.3 before.
I cleared the browser cache, but I am not sure how to clear the minified JavaScript files. Still have problems.
Since my site is a live site, I am afraid that I can't do what you suggested ( Temporarily activate a default theme like Twenty Nineteen. Deactivate all plugins except Types, Views and Access). Is there an alternative way to do the debugging? I mean providing your the Admin account or something like.
Okay yes, I can log in using admin credentials and look at the Access Control panel. May I install the Duplicator plugin to make a clone of your site? This way I can run additional tests on my own local test environment without modifying the live site. Let me know if you approve for me to create a site clone like this.
thank you, and sorry for keeping you waiting. I will provide you the info you need.
Thank you, private reply fields are available here.
Thank you, I was able to create a site clone and begin investigation. I was not able to determine the source of the problem just yet. I thought it could be the same as this known issue that was just recently resolved: https://toolset.com/errata/checkboxes-in-toolset-access-forms-settings-are-not-working/
However, updating to the latest version of Access does not seem to solve the problem for me. It seems that the Yoast SEO plugin is also contributing to the issue on your site. I will keep investigating this tomorrow and give you an update as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience while we work through this one.
Okay I have asked my 2nd tier support team to take a look at this. In my own local tests, I was not able to reproduce the problem on a fresh new site. However, I have one existing site with the same problem. So my guess is this is some kind of edge case related to the erratum post we fixed in a recent release. I've asked for some help and I will let you know what I find out. For now, you can try temporarily disabling Yoast SEO when you need to make changes to Types Field settings in Types > Access Control.
Hello, I just wanted to check in and let you know that our second tier support team has reported the issue to our developers for resolution. It does seem to be related to this erratum post: https://toolset.com/errata/checkboxes-in-toolset-access-forms-settings-are-not-working/
I will keep you posted here as I receive more information. If a patch or hotfix is made available, I will let you know. For now, the best workaround is to temporarily disable Yoast SEO while modifying Access Controls for Types fields. Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve the problem.
thank you so much Christian for keeping me posted.
After disabling Yoast SEO, I can check the checkbox, however, when I click save and refresh that page, nothing is saved, I mean I still can't change anything, it's quite wried.
Could you replicate that error? Thank.
Oh...yes, thank you. I can replicate this now that you have pointed it out. I will pass that information along to the team to be sure the issue is described accurately.
We are still working on a permanent solution to this problem. Until then, we advise to use only Latin characters in the Form names and Types field group names to avoid the problem.
Thank you, after changing Form names and Types field group names, it works. Thank you.
Just a quick update to let you know that the non-Latin character issue has been resolved in the latest version of Access, now available for automatic update or download.
