I have a view which returns a table of user profiles (its like a "Freelancers for Hire" directory).

I'm using a custom field in each user profile called "Niche".
When a freelancer enters their information, they select their niche from a drop down list.

I cant figure out how to create a a "Filter" for the View on the front end, so that visitors can search and filter ONLY for freelancers in a particular niche.

FYI I am using the CLASSIC LEGACY VIEWS BUILDER interface, NOT the Blocks Version (I don't use Gutenberg).

I can see a message in the Views builder interface in the Custom Search Settings "Only Views listing posts can have custom search inputs."

SURELY there must be a way to filter users according to some search criteria?

Custom code maybe?

Help , please!

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

The thing is that using Toolset Block/Views, you can build custom search for post type view or archive only. You can not build custom search for user or taxonomy views.

Here is the doc whats possible if you want to build search using users:
