[Resolved] Post Date sorting option appears despite removing it from front-end sorting configurations

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I am using Blocks to create a custom search View with front-end sorting controls. I have removed Post Date from the sorting control configurations, but it still appears on the front-end of the site. How can I remove the Post Date sorting option?

Solution: The best current workaround is to select the top-level View block using the Block Navigation menu at the top of the screen . Then in the block configurations panel, open the Ordering Settings section and select the post title or post author here as the default sorting setting instead of post date. That should remove the post date sorting option from the front-end sorting controls.

Hi
I am starting using Blocks instead of Views (in GeneratePress). I have created a new page for listing books and Sorting options comes with a default sort by post date. I removed the sort by post date and created two different sorting criteria (author and title) applying directions as well. In the page editor it looks ok, but when the page is viewed the post date still appears together with its direction ! but if another criteria is selected it's removed from the list.
See picture.
Regards
Nicola

Hello, this is a usability issue in the block editor that has been escalated to our developers, but I don't have a timeline for resolution. The best current workaround is to select the top-level View block using the Block Navigation menu at the top of the screen (see block-navigation.png). Then in the block configurations panel, open the Ordering Settings section and select the post title or post author here as the default sorting setting (see ordering-settings.png) instead of post date. That should remove the post date sorting option from the front-end sorting controls.
