I'm trying to filter the films custom post type here hidden link and have setup a custom taxonomy=film category with which I had hoped to filter the films by on the front end. When I found this wasn't an option to select from in the sorting block, I consulted the documentation which advises that sorting by custom taxonomy can't be done, is that correct?
So I then created a select type custom field 'film type' with a few options, written/directed etc and I could access this in the sorting block and means I can filter by film type, but I want to filter by the terms themselves i.e written. Currently if I add the film type dropdown it just reorders the films, rather than giving a user the option of which type of film they want to filter by
