Hello

This is not a big deal but it is annoying and this has happened since upgrading to 3.0 and latest versions.

I have a situation where I am using more than one layout for post type 'pages'.

In the layouts control panel you can only set ONE layout to be used for the pages post-type (see screenshot 4).

If I set a page to use a different layout - not the one listed as being used with that post-type - it works fine, however, if you then re-edit the content layout on that page and re-save, the layout template REVERTS to the one listed as being used with the page post-type.

In other words, every time I edit the content of a page using a different layout and save, I have to go and re-select the layout template I want to use with that page.

See screenshots 1-3 in sequential order! Note how the Layout Template has changed when I save the content.

Hope that makes sense!

Gavin

Hi Gavin

We have an imminent release of Layouts 2.3.1 due (this week, I expect) which fixes an issue where the assigned Layout is lost when saving content.

This sounds like the same problem, so can you keep an eye out for the update, apply it, and then let me know whether you still have a problem or not?

(No need to reply to this message until you've seen the update.)

Thanks Nigel - that sounds about right. Have a great week. Gavz

Thanks Nigel. The update did fix the issue. Worth noting that updating to Layouts 2.3.1 resets ALL the assigned layouts used with individual pages.

Nigel. I've double checked and I was wrong. The bug has not been fixed in this release! The release notes say it has but the assigned layout template keeps reverting when the layout on the page is edited!

OK, let me re-open this thread.

I'll need to check myself and then I'll get back to you.

Ok - I opened a new thread as wasn't sure if this one was reopenable! I will close other thread.

To be clear:

This bug fix does not appear to be working. Tested on latest versions of all plugins.

Layouts 2.3.1
Bug-fix: Fixed issue with posts and pages loosing their individually assigned Template Layout when their Content Layout is saved, in favour of the Template Layout assigned to their entire post type.

On installing Layouts 2.3.1 all the page templates lost their individually assigned Template layout and then the bug persists.

Hi Gavin

I've confirmed that myself and have passed it back to the developers.

Sorry for the continued inconvenience, I'll let you know when they have an update.

No problemo! 🙂
