[Resolved] Show an additional menu option to logged in users
This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.
Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.
No supporters are available to work today on Toolset forum. Feel free to create tickets and we will handle it as soon as we are online. Thank you for your understanding.
Tell us what you are trying to do?
On my membership site, once the member has logged in I would like them to see the additional menu option of 'My Account Page' or 'Edit My Profile'
I am not sure if this is something I can easily do in Toolset or if this is more of a basic WordPress functionality subject.
I can see that there are plugins but I want to reduce the number of plugins on the website to the minimum.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
I can't find any at present
Is there a similar example that we can see?
Not that I can think of
If you use Access to limit access to a page such that guests cannot visit it, and you include that page in a menu, then when guests visit the site the restricted page will automatically be missing from the menu.
I can't see how to add the page 'My Account' to the list of restricted to just logged in users, sorry I did read the documentation but I just can't seem to see where I specify that this page is restricted to logged in users ... or should I be using some conditional formatting on the 'My Profile Account' page
hidden link
I understand that if this page is 'marked' that it is for 'logged in users' only then it won't appear in the menu ... but can't see where under access controls or 'post groups' I do this.
I think a video guide might help on the whole subject of 'access controls' as it is quite a confusing area.
I realise where I was misunderstanding the process.
I thought I needed to adjust the tick box area in the Post Group and add something there but then I realise I needed to 'Modify' the current post group and add in the page I wanted to only be visible to those logged in ... and it worked perfectly.
I understand now.
Thank you again.
You'll be pleased to know I am almost ready to launch the site. When it is tested and I feel it has reached a stable point, I will let Toolset know.
I know I am blowing my own trumpet, but having taken a few years—admittedly, there was a break for a couple of them — I have developed what feels like a really good-quality membership site, all using Toolset and all with my limited knowledge and all (with your help) by myself. It proves that Toolset really is capable of building functionally complicated websites that work smoothly and look great ... well I think so.
I looked for similar examples in the 'showcase' area and think that I might be a good example for it ... but that's for the future, I had better get some real members on the site first!
