I am trying to:
Use Avada search

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
This is private

I expected to see:
The search working

Instead, I got:
Search doesn't work, it just redirects to the homepage but the URL is correct -> hidden link

Search works when i disable Toolset Layouts AND Toolset Views.
When i enable any of those 2 plugins, the search stops working completly.

Those 2 plugins are currently disabled. To replicate use the search icon on the header to search for anything and you will see the search page.
Go to wp-admin and enable any of those 2 plugins and search again, you will be redirected to the homepage with no results.

Hello,

I have tried the credentials you provided above, I can see only a "Sign in" window, so I can not login your website, please check it.

I suggest you check these:
Check if you are using Layouts or Views wordpress archive to customize the search result page, if it is, remove/disable it and test again.

For example, activate only Views plugin, Dashboard-> Toolset-> WordPress Archives
Find the specific wordpress archive which is assigned to "Search results"
click link "Change usage", disable option "Search results", and test again.

You can also use Views wordpress archive to customize the search result page by following our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-wordpress-custom-post-archives/

Similar as Layouts, see our document:
Dashboard-> Toolset-> Layouts
Find the specific layout which is assigned to "Search results", click link "Change layout use"

Dear Luo,

What is a "Sign in" Window? Do you mean a small window when you access the website root URL? If that's the case... it's called HTACCESS security which i provided the login and password. Only after you insert those credentials (on the ROOT URL of the site) you will be able to visit wp-admin and insert the credentials for administrator.

I did not create wordpress archives for any custom post type, neither for wordpress default search page or Avada theme.

I have no option to check if the wordpress archive is assigned to "Search Results", there is no such column/option/mention.
Neither i want to use it. I want to use the default AVADA Search page results.

I've gone threw Toolset settings and found nothing that could solve this problem. Toolset plugins and Avada are updated to the last version.

Please advice

Yes, I meant that HTACCESS security window, I have tried both the "WordPress access details" and "FTP access details" in that window, none of them work, please check it.

And the problem you mentioned above is abnormal, please try these:
1) In case it is a compatibility problem, please deactivate other plugins, and switch to wordpress default theme 2017, and test again

3) If the problem still persists, please provide copy of your website(you can put the duplicator package file in your google drive disk, and share the link), I need to test and debug it in my localhost, thanks

Thanks for the details, I am downloading the files, will update here if there is anything found

search-keyword.JPG

Here are what I found:
1) Install the duplicator package in my localhost, remove the file ".htaccess" in root folder, since it keeps on Jumping out the HTACCESS security window

2) Login into admin side
Dashboard-> Settings-> Permalink
click save button, this will reset the ".htaccess" file.

3) Test in front-end, for example search with keyword "search_keyword", see screenshot search-keyword.JPG, I can see two items in the result.
I have already tried other keywords, all works fine.

Is there any missing?

Luo,

I'm sorry, there must be something wrong...
That search page is correct, but when you did that search, was Toolset Layouts or Toolset Views activated in the plugin list?!

If they are activated and the search results page appear instead of the homepage, how could that be explained?

I've checked on Avada search form and name="s" is there (i searched for a similar issue here: hidden link), isn't there a possibility that toolset layouts or views to interfer with that parameter?

thanks

I was checking a way to turn around this problem.

Toolset allows me to create a search button that searchs for anything on the site, correct? Like WordPress default search.

I have checked again the duplicator in my localhost, the Views plugin is not activated, then I activate it, see screenshot: plugins.JPG

test it again, it works fine.

So it should be a server problem, if you need assistance to locate the problem, please backup your website first, I need to debug it in your live website, and I am off now, you might get a delay answer.

That's very strange... as we have another VPS Server, we decided to migrate to there and see how it goes.
It turns out that it worked as expected so handing you the duplicator file was a way to figure out the problem.

We wont need any further assistance since we will work with the VPS Server, but i will leave the data here for eventually any user that finds a similar issue.

I've check the response headers for the page with the error and they seem to duplicate in some parts, althought the request headers are apparently the same.

I've created a side-by-side Network response for the search page with and without Toolset activated.

I've change the php version from 7.2 to 7.0 and 5.6, didn't work.
I activated all the 7.2 php extensions, didn't work.
