I am creating an FAQ page using Custom Post Types and Custom Categories and then plan to display them in a view.

I have created a Custom Post type called FAQs given it three custom categories for the different types of questions. I want to display these on my FAQ page grouped by category with a heading for each category and the posts underneath - See screenshot.

The way I would usually do this is create a view for each category and embed it in the page. However, in this instance, I want to be able to search and filter the whole list, so it needs to be one list. Is this possible?

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

Well - the thing is that you can not create a custom search for taxonomy views. Only Views listing posts can have custom search input filters allowed.

With your requirement, one part you can achieve that is you can display posts group by category but there is no way to apply custom search on that.

To display your posts group by taxonomy terms you need nested views where one you will display the taxonomy term and within this taxonomy view's loop editor you will add another view that will display the posts.

Please check the following article that will help you to understand how you can display posts group by taxonomy term:
