Hi,
I have been waiting long for the great new release that was released today.

I have a "books" CTP and a "Persons" CPT and want to have a many to many relationship.

I was able to do so easily with the new version. however, I have 3 problems:

1- when creating the relasionshops, I unticked the intermediary post option. I don't understand what deos it do.
it is mentioned in the documentation here, but i can't understand its function:
https://toolset.com/documentation/post-relationships/how-to-display-related-posts-with-toolset/

2- I tried to import/export the post relationships using WP Allimport Pro, WP All export Rp, and Ultimate CSV Importer Pro.
However, I can't find any custom fields that control the post relationships. I can't find a way to import/export posts and specify relationships.
I know that this version introduces more csv support, but i can't find any controls for it.

3- if I used the intermediary posts, does the plugin creates a post for every connection happens? I have thousands of books and thousands of authors. does this mean i will end up with thousands of intermediary posts?

I appreciate your help in this, as i have been waiting for it for so long

thanks in advance.

Hello,

Q1) the intermediary post option
For many-to-many relationship, it needs intermediary object, you can add custom fields into it, and the option "intermediary post " is not required, if you don't need to display the intermediary object, you can uncheck the intermediary post option.
See our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/post-relationships/how-to-set-up-post-relationships-using-toolset/

Q2) However, I can't find any custom fields that control the post relationships. I can't find a way to import/export posts and specify relationships.
In the latest version of Types plugin, it does not use custom fields to control the post relationships, the relationships are stored into another database table: wp_toolset_associations
WordPress Ultimate CSV Importer plugin supports the new post relationships, see our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-import-content-into-wordpress-using-csv/

Q3) if I used the intermediary posts, does the plugin creates a post for every connection happens? I have thousands of books and thousands of authors. does this mean i will end up with thousands of intermediary posts?
Same as Q1) the option "intermediary post " is not required, you can uncheck the "intermediary post" option, then there will not be thousands of intermediary posts in your website.

Hi Luo,

thank for your reply.

can you kindly please send me a screenshot showing where the wp_toolset_associations appears in the "WordPress Ultimate CSV Importer " plugin?
I have the PRO version, and can't see a place to import or export this value.
I also have a team member who tried to find it independently and failed.

i can see all the toolset fields, but not this one.

Also, I linked 3 posts of CPT "Sermos" to one Post in the "Persons"CPT, then exported the whole CPT called "Person" to see the field.

however, there is no column header called "wp_toolset_associations".
There is a column with empty values called "types_relationship". not sure what's its use.

also, I tried the "Export/Import" tab in the Toolset admin panel, but found this message:

"No association to import.
You can use the default WordPress Export to export associations. Once you import the data using WordPress Importer you will see the available associations here in the Import section."

Please note that we have been using csv concept for years uing the Allimport/Export suite. so we are quite familiar with the csv import/export process. what i am reporting is not a case of not knowing how to import/export posts.

can you kindly send me a screenshot showing where the value is?

thanks.

The "wp_toolset_associations" is a database table, it is not a "column", you can install the Types plugin version 3.0, then you will be able to see the table "wp_toolset_associations" in your database. and the pre-fix "wp_" of table name may be different in different website, for example, it might be "mywp_toolset_associations".

And here is the document about "How to import posts from CSV files and maintain relationships when using the CSV Importer plugin"

https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-import-content-into-wordpress-using-csv/import-csv-ultimate-csv-importer-plugin/how-to-import-posts-from-csv-files-and-maintain-relationships-when-using-the-csv-importer-plugin/

Using the WP Ultimate CSV Importer Pro plugin and CSV files you can create or update posts through CSV files and maintain relationships between your post types.

Hi Luo,

Thanks for the reply.

I followed the tutorial over 10 times. Nothing happen.

what I tried to do is to connect an existing book to an existing person. these are the steps:

- I point the Importer Pro to the relevant columns in the csv sheet. (please check the screenshot "capture 2.jpg).
- I run the import successfully (please check screnshot "capture.jpg").
- I check the "person" cpt, nothing there. and i check the book cpt, nothing is there too.

I tried this on several books, and articles (2 differnt CPT connected to the "Persons" CPT).

I got my friend to try independently too, still nothing happen.

I tried with both the post title and the id of the person cpt. all imports give successful messages, but nothing gets added to either the book, the article or the person.

In case it is a compatibility problem, please try these:
1) make sure you are using the latest version of "WordPress Ultimate CSV Importer Pro" plugin:
hidden link
2) deactivate other plugins and switch to wordpress default theme, and test again
3) If the problem still persists, please provide a copy of your website and a copy of the csv file:
https://toolset.com/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/
You can put it into your own google drive disk, and share the link in the "private detail box", I need to duplicate same problem and debug it in my localhost, thanks

Thanks for the details, I am downloading the files, will feedback if there is anything found.

I can duplicate the same problem with your duplicator package, it needs another plugin "WP Ultimate CSV Importer - Custom Fields Import" Version 1.0, see their document of "WordPress Ultimate CSV Importer Pro" plugin:

Need to upgrade your WP Ultimate CSV Importer to support the latest updates of Toolset Types, just write to us at support@smackcoders.com or leave your comments below.

Since it is their plugin, I can not send it to you, I suggest you contact "smackcoders" for it.
