[Resolved] Post content not showing in custom post types

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that when the user activate our Toolset blocks plugin their post content on the frontend dissappears.

Solution:

This is actually a common issue where there is an empty content template assigned to the custom post type that is not showing on the frontend.

To verify this go to Toolset -> Content Templates and edit the template that is assigned to the post type thats not showing up.

If it is indeed empty and you don't wish to use the content template then you can go ahead and delete it.

Should you want to use the content template to customize the output of your posts on the frontend then I would recommend following the instructions in the documentation below.

I use Elementor to set up templates for my custom post types created with Toolset. None of my custom post types now show the WP post content I've used to display text on the posts. This happened after update of Elementor, but have tried restoring older versions of Elementor but the problem still is there so I'm thinking it might be due to the Toolset plugin. Tried with default WP theme and it still doesn't show, so its not the theme.

Example of post that is missing the Post Content: hidden link

I’ve added an admin user for you so you can investigate. Note that I've now tried rolling back plugins and thats why they're not the latest version.

On inspection in the console it seems to be missing the "data-widget_type="theme-post-content.default".

I've tried creating new template from scratch, and it works to display the post content with the default wordpress posts, but when using any toolset custom post it doesnt display anymore.

I've contacted both Elementor and the Theme support, they have all referred to this being a Toolset problem.

Hi Christine,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I took a quick look at this for you and found that the reason for this is that you have an empty content template assigned to your post.
hidden link

Just delete this content template and it should begin showing like normal again.

Thanks,
Shane
